Quillback Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 I remember a Spring several years ago, my Dad and my Brother-in-Law and I fished all morning without even a whiff! It was getting cloudy and rain was threatening. They decided to take a nap, so I went back out by myself. The year before, Bill Beck had showed me how to 'bulge' a spinner bait just under the surface. I took a white, double silver willow blade and proceeded to catch what was probably my best bag ever? Went back in Schooner, and in about 45 minutes I hauled in 7 LM. Had 3 over 5#, biggest was 7+ and the other 4 were in the 4# range. They were just all over that thing, and I saw every one of them come out of a tree or laydown. No camera with me, and didn't want to mess with filling the livewell. To this day, my Dad and Brother-in-Law still don't believe me! Son! That must have been an awesome experience.
Quillback Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Maybe MDC should consider dumping concrete picnic tables instead of old Christmas tree's? That's not a bad idea. I can see if they are sitting upright, the picnic table gives a fish great overhead cover. Champ188 1
Ham Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Who knows, maybe Spro will make enough Rock Crawlers before Spring of next year so that everybody can go buy a couple dozen. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Quillback Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Seems like every year there is a crank bait craze for a particular model. Last year, after the Classic you could not find a Rapala DT 10 in the Red Ike Demon color. Plenty in stock this year. Same for the HFC craw - sold out early last year, now they are sitting on the shelves. It will be interesting to see what crank shines in the upcoming Elite event at Guntersville. Muddy Water 1
Alex Heitman Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 You can still find some Rock crawlers now. Just have to goggle them and they can be found in stock in different tackle shops.
Ham Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 I really want to fish Guntersville in the early fall one of these years. Champ188 1 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Guest Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 The rock crawler will out fish the HFC head to head. Heavier, casts further, runs deeper, & stays down at higher speeds
magicwormman Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 I really want to fish Guntersville in the early fall one of these years. I was just down to Guntersville a couple of weeks ago. I talked to some locals and they said the frog fishing is unbelievable the last week of Oct. and first week of Nov. The lake gets a ton of pressure, but still produces big bass. They had 2 just under 12 lbs in a tournament, when I was there. Ham 1
