Jerry Rapp Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Wednesday is usually golf day at the local course, but a buddy called yesterday and said he got on a pretty good bite fishing at Clearwater, targeting the original shoreline in front of the trees(lake is 10 foot high from the recent rains). So I decided to go with him today. He was dragging a c-rig lizard, so to try something different I put on the non mentioned, little bait. Within 30 minutes he had one of them tied on. Cast up against the outside edge of the flooded brush, let it sink to bottom, about 8 feet deep, and we would slowly drag them down to around 12 to 15 feet. He is a counter and said we caught 37. Best five were all over 4lbs, with one that went 6.76 on his digital scale. Phil Lilley 1
Jerry Rapp Posted April 1, 2015 Author Posted April 1, 2015 it was a funny deal. I started with my basic green pumpkin color. Randy tied on a blue/blackish one and he started doing better than me. We figured the crawdads were starting to come out with the warm weather/temps? Most of the crawdads at Clearwater have a blueish hue to them(don't tell anyone)
dtrs5kprs Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 I could believe it easier than the idea that there is a forum for Clearwater.
LarrySTL Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Blueish crawdads would be unbelievable.....except for the tiny fact that there are LOTS of them in Table Rock and that some pics of them were in the Mo Conservation magazine a few years ago. http://intervenehere.com
Old plug Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Jerry tell this Lansing Kansas cowboy a even harder to believe tale Tell him the story about the stringer of Bass Frank Mc Callister brought in one time. This is from the days when we still had a 10 bass limit. I was a limit and and the smallest one on there was 5 1/2 and they went to 8 from over 8 from there. Sorry dave none were caught on anything like the ned rig though there were plenty of little plastic junk around then too.

Sorry dave none were caught on anything like the ned rig though there were plenty of little plastic junk around then too. There were some big limits caught back in the way back. I have no problem believing that. Matter of fact was just on the phone with a friend in AZ who was quite the stick locally back in the 60's and 70's. He was telling me about some huge limits they caught at Bull on the old Rebel and deep Cordell cranks. We were talking warts and all things crankbait. I still haven't found the Clearwater forum though. Don't hear much about that lake. Used to see printed reports in that old black and white publication that was always in the shops back in the 80's. Clearwater and Wapappello both.
David Unnerstall Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Jerry, I think some of these high-falootin Table Rock and LOZ dudes are making fun of Clearwater.
