Members jd1983 Posted April 13, 2015 Members Posted April 13, 2015 Thinking of heading to Crane this week. I keep seeing people ask about the snakes being out and have read they can get thick there. Are they really that prevalent?

fishinwrench Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Heck yeah ! That's why most only fish it in the dead of Winter.
Dutch Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Haven't been on Crane lately but we see cotton mouths in both of our sloughs in Spring Creek.
Nighthawk Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 When the students from MSU want to study cottonmouths they go to Crane to catch one. A fishing buddy and I ran into a group of students there one time and they had a moccasin they had caught in a cloth bag. They are there. bs1827 1
Amery Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 I'll be honest, it sounds like a challenge. I'm not afraid of snakes but of course I'm not very comfortable around cotton mouths.
jdmidwest Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Cottonmouths are not comfortable around people either. That is why they chase you away. Dan Sweeney 1 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
