Macsimus Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Tried to send you a PM but was told you can't receive any. Have some info for you on Sturgeon Bay. "There was a time that I didn't fish, but I cannot remember it."
Guest Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Oooooooo, Sturgeon Bay is so awesome. I got to visit after a Packers game in 2008. Loved that area.

Guest Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Hopefully, you got to fish! We hired a guide but its was post cold front & the wind picked up, so we never left the Bay. My wife caught a northern pike that was it. Left a lot to be desired. Scenery was awesome!
Bill Babler Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Sturgeon Bay has always excited me. I have however taken quite a few fishermen from Chicago and up that way that say it is extremely crowded. I have had them tell me it is so bad they no longer go back even with the tremendous Smallmouth fishing. They say it reminds them of a mid-west trout park on opening day, only everyone is in a 22' boat with a 250hp. motor. Kind of made me sad to hear that, I sill would love to make the trip sometime. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
denjac Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 My neighbor goes to Alaska alot as his son lives there. His destination place is now sturgeon bay. Darrell greenwood from joplin won the big smallmouth tourny up there a couple of years ago with 60 some pounds. 2 day tournament. Sac River Jim, Champ188 and Macsimus 3 Dennis Boothe Joplin Mo. edyer Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Sturgeon Bay is awesome for sure, but anything on the great lakes can be dictated by the weather.Any of the drowned river mouths to Lake Michigan on the west side of Michigan has trophy potential smallmouths all year round, but especially in September and October. A lot of the inland lakes in NW part of Lower Michigan have unbelievable action on smallmouths in the 4-6 pound range, with a chance for a 7 or even an 8 pounder. There are so many good places to fish, they are usually not crowded at all. On the east side of the state, right now, guys are catching 100 smallmouths a day with a lot of fish in the 3-5 pound range. I'm heading there Saturday. Alex Heitman, Hunter53 and Champ188 3

glennL Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 I believe it was Yogi Berra that said it best. "No one goes there anymore, it's too crowded" Glenn
rangerman Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 I will be leaving for sturgeon bay in a couple of weeks. The smallmouth open I believe is the second week of May. I may be wrong though. However, I have never found lack of room to fish. Overall I would highly recommend a trip there to anyone. I have been making a journey there every year since 2011. Most of the trips have been fall trips that allow a wide variety of fishing. VERY large walleye, cast and retrieve salmon and jumbo smallies. All within the canal. You can fish salmon in the morning and evening and smallies and walleye during the day. It is an anglers paradise. This will be my first spring trip And it will be for post spawn walleye and prespawn smallies. Ham 1
