Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 22, 2015 Root Admin Share Posted April 22, 2015 I have a series of pics of rods a gentleman brought in for me to investigate. He's wanting to know if there's anything valuable in his collection. I can offer descriptions if needed. But here are the images.

vonreed
I don't know about yours because I lack the knowledge to give a reliable statement, but. My dad had some old fly rods made of bamboo that were made in Japan that he sold for hundreds of dollars a few years ago. They were in the box like yours, but I don't remember what brands, which can be a big difference I'm sure.
jdmidwest
Back in the fifties, Japanese flooded the market with cheaper bamboo rods. My uncle brought some back while in the Navy. Lower end rods. I think the glues they used was inferior. They were the Zebcos of bamboo. Not much collector value. Cant help with the spin rod. drew03cmc
The South Bend 59 is the most valuable rod there, but being a 9' 8/9 it might bring $150-350 condition depending. The two casting rods are not terribly valuable, but are neat pieces. Like was said, those Japanese sets don't hold much value as fishing tools, but as collectibles, they are cool. The Costelow is a trade rod, not made in KC, but sold here. It is probably a lower end Heddon or South Bend made and branded for a sporting goods store. The H-I Beaverkill is an not a valuable piece, but if in good shape, can be a fun rod for bass. Andy
J-Doc
I think they look cool. I have nothing to offer on worth as I have no clue. Other than the obvious cool factor. A very nice collection! Value lies with the eye of the beholder. ness 1 Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. Old plug
I have a riend who can tell you real quick like I believe. His name is Ed Bryant. You might want to contact Osage outdoors in Laurie Mo. They have a web site but I do not know what it is off hand. Ranger520vx
