Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted May 4, 2015 Root Admin Posted May 4, 2015 Fishing down here for a couple of days.
Terrierman Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 If it was me, it would be for big stripers. That is one heck of a lake.
Ketchup Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 I was born and raised on the Tx. side. Still spend a fair amount if time camping/fishing the Burns Run area on the Ok. side near the dam. Caught my biggest fish to date below tge dam on the Red River. Terrierman 1 TinBoats BassClub. Â An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.Â
Feathers and Fins Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 That could be a BIG (one-cast) catch https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Flysmallie Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Spent a lot of time there when I was a kid. Special memories on that lake. Â Â

Caught my biggest fish to date below tge dam on the Red River. I was down there one April a few years back. Fished the lake a day and the tailwater a day from the North bank. Lost some big jigs and caught one about 30 off the bank. That will make you OK with a few jigs. Fished the lake with live shad with a guide. When it was on it was incredible as in fast. Nothing really big though, 5 to maybe 15. But when you have 30 or 40 of those in a day you think, "heck of a lake". Ketchup 1
Members MattS Posted May 5, 2015 Members Posted May 5, 2015 Stripers there are a riot! Awesome lake no matter what you do though
hoglaw Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 The only stripers I've ever caught were in Texoma. We fished with a guide and counted down big white spinnerbaits with big trailers to about 20 feet, then steady retrieve. We caught 15 or 20 fish. No giants, but lots of ~10lb fish. It was a blast.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted May 6, 2015 Author Root Admin Posted May 6, 2015 We fished out of Bridgeport Resort. Daytime fishing was off. Couldn't find the shad. Water temp is cool for May and the lake just jumped up. The only fish we could find was under lights at night. Fished tied up to the Roosevelt Bridge. Used ghost minnows just strung on a hook 30 feet deep. Caught mostly small stripers, one sand bass and a golden eye herring (cool fish!). But did catch a few big ones. Nice to get away- great weather. Good friends.
