Feathers and Fins Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 I got to wonder if any of you undrstand there is a balance needed between larger fish and smaller fish like bass. That is why thre are slot limits. Putting everything back may or may not mean anything depending on how they were handled. Especially small fish that hit larger bait like bass. Environmental factors pay and even larger role but that is an entirely different subject. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Old plug Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 I am not sure of that fins. When people take them to eat are too carry around in a live well all day it is enviormental to me. That seems to be the heart of what is bothering them overall. i cannot see a guide hogging a lot of fish. that would be like cutting his own throat.
Feathers and Fins Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 Im talking more about the lakes environment to the over-all-health of a fishery. High Water years produce great year class where low water years crappy class. If the biologist are doing their jobs monitoring the lake then they can adjust creel and slots. Angler harvest is trickier for certain but they still can get a idea of the quality and quantity of the fish and adjust based of those estimates. I worry far more about the environmental factors then legal angler take. Illegal take that majorly concerns me I have read way to many papers about illegal gill nets trot lines etc and those give me great concern. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
MOPanfisher Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 Environmental factors can create or destroy a fishery, fishing pressure has some effect but nearly as much. Slot limits are good on certain populations but not on all. Terrierman and Sac River Jim 2
Blll Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 Most striper guides are getting $400/half day trip now but that has nothing to do with the fish. Each angler buys a fishing license plus the guide has a fishing license and are all under the same fishing regulations so what is the issue? They have the same right as anyone to the fish. My only occasional complaint is about the ones that think they own the 1500 yards of lake they are fishing. Just sayin'
