Ketchup Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Thought I share a few pics with ya from my outing this evening. We fished Stockton. Put in at 6:30 and fished til 9:00. Started out throwing a jig, caught a few small fish. Then threw a Zara Spook catching a few on it, Decided to throw that "rainbow" topwater of yours, and caught 7 on it, missing atleast that many. Between the Mrs. and i we caught roughly 17 in 2 hours. The top water bite was on. Pictures are of different fish, including a 15" and 16 1/2" chunk. and notice the 17" white that took the "rainbow". J-Doc Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Must be San Fransisco strain bass. Lol!! Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
fishinwrench Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 The snap swivel seals the deal. That bait is as queer as a football bat. Sac River Jim and J-Doc 2
jolicious Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 At the risk of further instigating brother Wrench - it's really loud and "tingy" as well....
Ketchup Posted May 27, 2015 Author Posted May 27, 2015 Got some serious line twist between that and the Spook. The ol' snappy swivel took care of that. Its one is those "go to" oldies when all else fails. Yes this thing makes some noise chuggin across the water. If it doesnt entice them to bite, it will scare them into the next county. Al Agnew Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Geez, why would you get line twist with either lure? Gotta be doing something wrong.
5bites Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Now I'm curious about the line twist. My money is with Unimog.
Ketchup Posted May 27, 2015 Author Posted May 27, 2015 Yep, spinning. Had other baits tied on my casting stuff, and nothing on the spinning. Kids were throwing wacky worms on spinning tackle and line was twisted already. Instead of putting boat in gear, letting line out with nothing attached, and driving to fix it, and with the fish hitting the Spook so well, i thought i would stick it on something as a "curosity" to see if they would eat this bait as well. Yea I know, not the correct setup for this bait, wind was wrong, boat pointed in wrong direction, wasnt trowing a Ned as a trailer on the topwater, but hey, pictures speak volumes. Next trip i will try it on the ultra light and see how that goes, then on to the fly gear. That sucker should hummmm on the end of a fly rod with the weight it has behind it. jolicious and Flysmallie 2 TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.
