DaddyO Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 Cool. How does it drain, when it gets water in it? DaddyO We all make decisions; but, in the end, our decisions make us.
Ketchup Posted May 28, 2015 Author Posted May 28, 2015 That was a worry i had. Not getting full motion from the pedal. Has anyone tried adjusting the cables underneath the pedal to make the rotation tighter, for less from pedal and rotates shaft more? I will look at mine this evening to see if its possible. I really like the look of it recessed, and the lack of clutter. As of now i can scoot the pedal about 2" more forward than it sits now. TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. Ketchup Posted May 28, 2015 Author Posted May 28, 2015 Cool. How does it drain, when it gets water in it? There is a built in drain hole in the bottom. The attached drain line that comes with it is ran under the floor to drain. In my case having an aluminum boat, the center rib was centered under the tray, so i layed the drain line in that rib, which run to the rear of the boat. TinBoats BassClub. 5bites Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 You shouldn't have any problem getting full motion unless you cramm it against the back of the tray. The thing that can be an issue that I was talking about (and wrench too I assume) is when you pivot the rear of the pedal down to back up it can put your ankle in a bind sort of unless your pedal is far enough forward. My trolling motor needs timed/clocked so that the direction is straight when the pedal is flat. Even with new cables it's not that way. It wasn't noticeable until I got the tray because now I have to step forward more to pivot the pedal down. This all sounds like gibberish I'm sure but will make sense later. Remember you can't go to far forward or the cables will be bound some on the angled part of the interior of the tray.
Flysmallie Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 I never understood why there wasn't a reverse on trolling motors.
5bites Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 Because I'd forget and throw myself off the front. They know my kind exist.

Remember you can't go to far forward or the cables will be bound some on the angled part of the interior of the tray. I understand gibberish. Been around these things "boats" many years, so gibberish is in my vocabulary. I just pushed it as far forward as i can without pinching the cables, and have roughly 3 1/2 inches of space on the back end. Looks like i can center it in the tray and be away from the cables and heel on the back. I just installed this new MinnKota, coming from a MG, and maybe its just me, but pretty sure the foot pedal on this new unit is smaller than my other 8 year old model MG. Ive looked at pictures of trays in boats and see the older pedals in pictures in trays and it takes up the whole tray. Mine has lots of room front to back (reletive to the space) and side to side compared to the older units. No matter what happens, the hole is cut, tray is mounted, and it took the clutter off the deck, so im a happy camper......or fisherman. On a side note, a trolling motor with a reverse would be on my X-Mas list. Maybe Santa can build a test model, and i be the tester. TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. fishinwrench Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 Actually if you have a 12/24/charge switch on the bow you can rig it to reverse polarity and run the motor backwards. But I hate those switches and usually terminate them.
