what a long strange trip it's been , put a dip in your hip, a glide in your stride and come on to the mother ship , the learning never ends

My last high water venture stuck a couple chatterbaits, ewg hooks, trailers for the chatterbaits and a few swimbaits in a Ziploc bag. All I needed for that trip.

Only lure I use regularly that I don't recall seeing mentioned is a rattlebait. Awesome lure for river fishing .

I agree on the rattlbaits. In my opinion they also get the most double hookups

Kinda a high & muddy thing with the rattle traps and red eye shads? Never had much luck with them when low and clear, plus they get hung a bit more than I like. Always have a few though.

In the heat of summer , in low water conditions, they are one of my top choices for fishing the faster water the smallmouth are in. Unless they are slamming buzzbaits in those faster flows .

The only sure fire bait for smallies are live minnows and live worms. And a healthy disrespect for rules and the law. Smallmouth fishing in Missouri suffers because of it.

I am really surprised that no one has mentioned my absolute go to bait for smallmouth on this thread... I'm having that inner turmoil where I want to keep it to myself, but I also want people to have good trips on the water. :/

I'd be surprised if it's something we've never heard of or tried... But you have me intrigued
