trythisonemv Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Took pops fishing today, he is a bait fisherman these days so that he can sit down. We hit Suzy hole four about two hours. I caught four nice sized trout in the ruffle below the bridge between two and three. One on worm and the others on orange power eggs. Tried to move him to the fly zones but rain set in hard and we called it a day. I never go to Bennett so I'd say it was a decent day. Dad enjoyed catching sculpin all day. He caught twelve in all. He was to tired to get up and move yo find trout so I kept him rigged and reeling in sculpin. He said he had a good time getting out of the house. All I cared about anyway. Thanks for the suggestions all. Terrierman and laker67 2
brittsnbirds Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 "He said he had a good time getting out of the house. All I cared about anyway." That's all that matters. As well as the time spent together. When I first read your post I remembered back when my dad use to take me (as a little fella) fishing. Then the tables turned and I was taking him. Never took him enough as I look back. Here's to you!!! Your a great son.
trythisonemv Posted June 23, 2015 Author Posted June 23, 2015 Thanks. My dad took me from the time I could walk . He used to wade with me clipped to a stringer around his waste so I wouldn't float away. I need to take him more often. laker67, BilletHead and Jeff Tief 3
brittsnbirds Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 LMAO!! I can see it little kid bobbing in the water floating around the old man with a tether! Too funny I'm sure that's not what you meant but it made for a great image and chuckle. Kind of like that strike indicator that gets away, (yelling down stream) "hey buddy, can you grab my son as he comes by?".
trythisonemv Posted June 27, 2015 Author Posted June 27, 2015 That's about the sum of it. I had a life vest with pickets so I could have a vest like dad lol. My lite bro was on the other side
Johnsfolly Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 I took my daughter to Bennett's yesterday. The water clarity was terrible, less than a foot visibility and the water was running high which is what I expected. She caught three trout and was really frustrated when she couldn't set the hook on them. However, she does enjoy catching the sculpin there. She could only catch two due to the lack of good water clarity. Sculpin fishing is a sight fishing endeavor. All in all she said she had a great day. I hope that she did. I want her to value our trips and think of them fondly when she is older.
brittsnbirds Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Johnsfolly, You da man! Doesn't matter what type of fishing you are doing with your daughter it's time well spent!! My youngest (23) called me the day before fathers day and wanted to take me fishing. Just like the time I took my son pheasant hunting for the first time. Told him to get on Junior's butt ( my old brittany) and kill any thing Junior pointed. He did, it was a hen but it was phenomenal moment!! Time spent with them young is better than any $$ investment you can make!! Keep it up bud!!
