Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted June 16, 2015 Root Admin Posted June 16, 2015 16 June 2015 Update: We will be opening our spillway gates at Table Rock this afternoon (approximately 2:00 PM). Our total release will be approximately 14.4k CFS (8 gates open @ 1' and 2 generators max power). Table Rock Lake's surface pool elevation is approximately 917.4 and rising. As long as Table Rock Lake's elevation is between 917 and 920 this operation will continue. We are using spillway gates to evacuate flood storage because 2 generators are out of service due to storm related damages. Table Lake Dam's current spillway/generator release is (8 gates @ 1' for a spillway release of 8.1k CFS and two generators max power releasing 6.4k CFS). Combined with hydropower, the total release will be approximately 14.5 CFS. FYI - Beaver Lake is only 1' from the top of their flood pool and will likely start spilling into Table Rock Lake later today and/or tomorrow depending on the rain they receive there. It is very likely that we will see 20.0k releases from Table Rock Dam later this week. I would ask each of you to monitor the lake levels and conditions at Beaver, Table Rock and Bull Shoals lakes to be fully aware of the Corps operations on this part of the White River System. Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted June 16, 2015 Author Root Admin Posted June 16, 2015 Depends on the size of the boat throwing the wake... I hope we don't see 20,000. This 14k is plenty. It'll stir the scuds up again.
JestersHK Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Wow, there's going to be some huge lunkers in there if they keep this up. Some of the fish I caught last week were already looking like fat little football's...
Seth Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Does it take the fish a bit to get active after the water temp jumps up? We tried drifting powerbait and crawlers down by Monkey Island this evening and never got a bite in an hour. I'm not sure Imve ever fished down there and not caught fish.
trythisonemv Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 It seems as though there haven't been any giants in there for a while. hopefully this scud boom will create one or two. I expect we'll have a good Brown run this fall as well.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted June 17, 2015 Author Root Admin Posted June 17, 2015 Depends on what you call "giants".... we've seen more 19-inch plus rainbows this spring than I've ever seen. Very impressive. I fished this morning. Good from the dam to Lookout, then fair from there. Picking up moss and stuff. Water is still dingy from the extra water. But this will clear out this morning. I did catch one rainbow right at Fall Creek that puked up a bunch of scuds so they're already finding them. trythisonemv 1
trythisonemv Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Well laker caught that 28lb one a while back and I haven't heard of anything close to that in a while. Maybe this boom will help us get one like that again. I would be happy with an 8or ten pounder myself. laker67 1
Seth Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Phil, I think I may have seen you this morning at Short Creek. We tried drift rigs with san juans and grey scuds from Lookout to Fall Creek and powerbait and crawlers from Fall Creek to your dock with nothing to show for it. We finally tried some 3" rogues on the bank and started catching a few. I was able to catch a few rainbows on a oink trout magnet 7' under a float in some eddies as well. Ended up with a dozen rainbows and five browns. The best was a 16" rainbow. I had a brown pushing 20" hooked, but he pulled of during the fight. My FIL had a brown pushing 2' follow his rogue to the boat too. I almost forgot how much fun it is to catch trout on a jerkbait.
tippet7 Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Are you able to surf with a 20k release? Charlie don't surf. You are so stupid you threw a rock at the ground and missed.
