Daryk Campbell Sr Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 I had a chance to fish for a couple hours on Fathers day thanks to my wife and Mother in Law. I fished in a subdivision pond in South St Louis County. The pond has been neglected for a while and with all of the rain, it seemed to be doing ok. I started in the pond next to a bench that I believe is the primary spot to fish. I was using a Rick Clunn's square bill I believe in shad color. I caught what I dont believe to be a bass. I will need help identifying it. I also caught a decent small largemouth. I seen a bunch of turtles, I seem to attract them. I actually had one come up to where I was fishing at and fully extend his head underwater looking for food. This is my mystery fish. It did not put up a huge fight. It was mostly yellow in color, had a lot of dark spots, nothing like a spotted bass. It was also very thin. Sorry that I did not get a good pic, I was trying the holding my breath trick. Wanted to get it back in the water quickly. . trythisonemv 1 Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. Ketchup Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Good to hear ya got out Daryk. Yes that looks like a crappie to me also. The thinness of the mouth skin, and coloring. Those turtles are all over. I seen over 15 on a laydown log this weekend. They make alot of racket when they all slide off at the same time. Daryk Campbell Sr 1 TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. Quillback Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Yep, a crappie. That pond may be stuffed with them if it doesn't get any pressure. Maybe try slow reeling a white crappie jig a couple of feet under a small cork. That is if you want to target them. Daryk Campbell Sr 1
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted June 23, 2015 Author Posted June 23, 2015 I may, especially from what I read about how the crappie taste. Thanks for the help guys. I really appreciate all of what everyone posts. :-) Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction.
