Wife and I have been dreaming a bit about buying a lake home at Table Rock. Neither of us have ever lived on the lake or have any significant/extensive experience down there. We enjoyed the visits to SDC and the Branson area with the kids when they (and we) were younger. We farm in northern Missouri and are not certain we are quite ready to give up the ag/rural lifestyle just yet. I know I would miss the cattle and the crops and would likely not enjoy having neighbors living close by. We have stayed on Lake of the Ozarks, but are turned off by the crowded and generally unruley nature of it. My question is this. Can anyone recommend lake homes for rent on a weekly basis. And by that I mean right down on the lake or whatever lakefront is at TR. Have looked at Big Ceder Lodge and other resorts of that ilk and don't think those are realistic, since we are not looking for golf or entertainment opportunities. I do like to fish, but most of my experience is on farm ponds and the muddy rivers. We would just like to find out what it is like to live in a home on the lake before we get serious. Any information is appreciated.

LM, TR is a COE lake therefore living right on the water is different than LOZ as the U.S. govt owns the shoreline and you have to get permits to mow or plant trees, etc. there is also a 2year pause on dock permits as the COE is studying the dock sizes and locations. There r many homes and condos for sale all over the lake. Some have community docks and others don't have any dock. Prices vary but now is a good time to start looking. I'd suggest you look at zillow or trulia websites for homes on TR. that will give you a good basis for location and price. You can also visit sites on the internet that rent homes or condos by the week.

As for a resort for a week there are plenty that are just resorts with a pool.

Last is you can hook up with a real estate agent and they will send you tons of opportunities because they want to make the sale.

We did this in 2010 and looked for a year before we decided on the location and then the house within that location.

Good luck

If you are talking lodging for only two with the possibility of renting a boat, it may be better to rent a cabin from local resort. You can use local realtors for search for lake front property. Table rock is becoming popular now, I would suggest further from Branson proper, the traffic is bumper to bumper at this time. I have lived in reeds spring for seven and owned house for eleven years; great people from all over the country, shopping is close, including fast food in Branson West. Average population in towns are two- three thousand.

Lodging I would suggest Crest lodge or something in Branson west Kimberling city area. Realtor, Tammy Johnson 417 818 8297, she gave us an estimate on our house last fall and was most accommodating and informative.

Best of luck in your search, others may have suggestions , welcome to the forum

There are quite a few homes and condos for rent on a weekly basis here at Holiday Island in Arkansas. The marina rents pontoons and has one boat to rent as well. Although we have some wake boat and such traffic, we do not have nearly the numbers you see below Campbell point.

The joy of table rock is you don't have to give up the ag/rural lifestyle. There are plenty of places on the upper end where you can literally see the lake and still have a farm. It may be difficult to find a farm on the lake but it can be done albeit pricey. Golden, Eagle Rock, Beaver, Holiday Island(just outside), Blue Eye, Shell Knob, Cape Fair. All these areas are within an hour to Branson, most are within an hour to NWA or Springfield (1 1/2 hours) and most are within 10 minutes from a boat ramp or several boat ramps.

We rented one that was lake view, not lake frontfront, up at HI for a Eureka trip. Enjoyed it much more than staying in Eureka.
