5bites Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 Anyone spy any goodies you can't live without? The new 13 Fishing Omen gen2's look intriguing and I'll likely order one. Also the Megabass Levante has me curious as well. Curious enough to hold the omen order until I see what they're about lol.
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 i Picked up an Omen black just the other day. Excited to try it. Looks like good quality for $100
kjackson Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 Look at the Okuma rods...especially the "Deadeye" series intended for walleyes. Good sticks. I've not walked the entire show yet, so I've not gone crazy over any one thing. The Lawrence 3D Structure Scan is pretty close to awesome with what it shows an what you can do with it. I got to see it in operation on the water, and it might even help J-Doc catch fish. Salmo's deep diving minnow bait should be a natural for stripers and walleyes. It will hit 40 feet is the claim. I also like the looks of Berkley's new line of crank baits. They were designed in part by David Fritts. VMC has the Gliding Jig that I think will find a following by the Ned and finesse guys. Savage Gear has some soft-plastic crawdad jigs that look really good in the water. The way the legs move is incredible. But like I said, I've not walked the show; I've only hit half the aisles, and it's scary how big it is this year. Attendance is predicted to be over 13,000 folks. There are 35 or 36 aisles, and each one is what, maybe 100 yards long. It is the largest ICAST ever, which makes it the largest fishing trade show ever anywhere.
Quillback Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 I'm sure I'll end up with a least a few of the Spro Rock Stars once they hit the shelves.
moguy1973 Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 The new Lew's rods look real nice -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
5bites Posted July 16, 2015 Author Posted July 16, 2015 i Picked up an Omen black just the other day. Excited to try it. Looks like good quality for $100 I've got several and they are a hard rid to beat at that price. Very sensitive rod for $100. The biggest gripe with them is the guides. Fortunately they changed those on the gen2 omens.

If you have pics I know the guys here would appreciate seeing them. I watched some videos last night on YouTube. Over 100 actually lol. The Savage Gear 16" swimbait is fascinating. I want one just because lol. The things I'm pumped about most are the new omens as I already mentioned, the Daiwa sv105 (cheaper if you order from Japan), 13's lefty reels, shimano casitas (for my kids), terminator frog, sunline assassin, and maybe the lews magnesium reel. I haven't warmed up to lews braking system yet though. Still it's a lot of reel at that price. There's others I look forward to seeing in person but my brain is overloaded after all the reading and watching. I can't imagine being there.
Ketchup Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Like you, i watch and read so e of the new products. KVD has a video talking about some of the new Strike King baits that look interesting. The new guides on rods dont register in my mind yet. The video i watched explained the larger guide stops the twist while the smaller smoothes the cast. Anyone know how much advantage as far as casting distance? The Spros look kinda cool. Just hard forking out that much per bait when i loose as many as i do. TinBoats BassClub. 5bites Posted July 16, 2015 Author Posted July 16, 2015 If you are referring to the micro wave setup it's a gimmick.
Ketchup Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 yep, thats the one. Just read another article about them, and they are hyping them up as the newest, smoothest, longest casting guides to ever be mounted to a rod. I see it as just another money maker for the gullable. Kinda want to get my hands on the new magnesium reel. TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.
