Ketchup Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Holy cow Batman, Had a tourney out of Diamond City, Ark. yesterday. When the locals say water is up in the trees, they know what their speaking of. I didnt know where to start. Do you fish tree tops that you see 8' under water full of leaves, pitch that small opening between trees to the back of the opening, sit out in 130' of water throwing 30yards towards shore with a spoon? This was my second time on BS, the first being May. The last week i studied lake maps, had a few spots picked out from reading reports online in the East Sugarloaf Creek area, and thought i had a game plan. That was until i seen the lake. How in the world do you guys that fish there do so with any success? A few of the guys caught decent fish, but said it was tough. Next is TR and hope water is down some by end of Aug. Ham Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 I could tell you what I did during the transition from Spring to Summe,. But water was ONLY 15 -20 foot high then. I fished the old water line as my zero. I fished 20-35 foot. I was catching plenty of fish, but not a lot of ones that would make a tourney guy happy. Ketchup Posted July 19, 2015 Author Posted July 19, 2015 That was the plan Ham, until i seen the old shoreline was in 40'. I found very few areas where the water was fishable under 20'. Oink Oink. I should have ordered one if those. Maybe THAT is what you caught your fish on, and not a jig. TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.
Ham Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Under the conditions we have now, I would be burning a lot of fuel running bluff banks, flooded points, and way to the back of creeks. I would be leaning pretty heavy on topwaters over brush and spinerbaots if the wind was blowing around flooded brish and trees. BUT Im not fishing Bull or Norfork right now. Fish24/7 Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Bull can be a tough nut to crack, use those electronics to your advantage i've got a cheap $90 lowrance and it shows me all i need to know
Ham Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 I'm not catching the quality Fish24/7 does, but I never found Bull Shoals to be that tough to catch fish on. It's not like it is Table Rock or anything. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Ketchup Posted July 20, 2015 Author Posted July 20, 2015 My first trip down in May i put in at K-Dock, fished in light rain, and caught several fish, with a few keeps. This trip i struggled. I can catch fish on the Rock, but Shoals, with the water over the treetops, busted my butt. TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.
Ham Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Come back and fish BUll when it is a little closer to normal like maybe 10 foot low to 20 foot high. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 It was a hot ,miserable couple days of fish not biting very well. Here is my opinion. I dive the DC area a lot and usually bass are pretty tight on cover at normal lake levels. I dont think Bull has near the amount of cover that Table Rock has. Now there is so much cover that the fish are scattered out all over. Normally lets say on a point with a conservation brush pile almost all the bass are in the middle of it and not there are a million trees that are 30 feet deep in the same area so they are scattered out all over. It was just tough to find water that was 30 feet or less that didnt have a Forrest in it. I will say i saw tons and ton of 1 and 2 inch bass chasing my bait back to the boat so i bet they had a great spawn.. I love Bull more than any lake around but it was a tough cookie to crack this weekend. Ham 1
