Recommended Posts

lmt-- thanks , I don't blame ya' for not getting more detailed than that , just doing my best to suck info from you in fun , lol , I'll be trying that BB and crawler for sure -- in purple ,orange and I've found black with a gold spinner works pretty well on points in 20' trolling .8 to1.5 or so generally this time of year

My guess is it's Stockton and most of those fish weren't keepers an sometimes things just go right, lmt an family had a good day. Can anybody do this everyday on Stockton no, not even guides.

Bob has always been helpful in his reports which he does not have to do. When you get the depth an what their biting on that eliminates 90% of water an baits, it doesn't get any better than that...maybe GPS coordinates :have-a-nice-day:

Bob is one of two guys who have helped me the most with fishing on these forums. Not just stockton but fishing in general. His reports are great. His seminar on crappie fishing at stockton was very informative. He explained what they do in detail for every season and how he targets em. Clearly he knows how to catch walleye too. Thanks for all of your fantastic contributions to this forum!

The Walleye fishing on Stockton is the only thing I miss since moving to California last April. 18 to 20 feet with a 3 way rig and crawler harness fished just fast enough to spin the blade and tick the bottom with your weight works nearly year round. Stockton is an EXCELLENT walleye fishery. NO Walleye in California!

A strike indicator is just a bobber...

MR Bennett has always offered me help

Dprice, i agree i have had the opportunity to go out with Bob several times, He helps everyone catch fish.

Bob and a few other guys i have fished with have helped me learn the lake to the best of my chances of getting out to go fishing.

Also if Aggressor decides to show back up i bet i could go out fish him and i havent been but 3 times this YR.

The guides and great wally fishermen's could post exact locations, tactics and put me in the boat and I would still fail. Occasionally I can catch walleye but the few times I have tried the bottom bouncing of night crawlers I brutalized the drum and small channel cat populations, but never even saw a wally.

Bob is the best walleye fisherman on Stockton I know of. He is very knowledgeable of the lake and willing to help anybody. I personally have fished with Bob numerous times for walleye, crappie and bass. I highly recommend hiring Bob at least once, you will be glad you did. If you look at what it cost to go fishing, boat, gas (truck and boat), oil, equipment, etc... and consider the guides time and expertise, they are very reasonably priced. As a business owner, knowing what it cost to have employees, I think guides are way under paid. If you enjoy your trip, learn some tips to help you the rest of your life and have fun, please tip these guys! We all enjoy the info they provide and hope they continue doing it for a long time.

At one time I was against hiring a guide, thought it was a waste of money and I could figure it out myself. However I have completely changed my mind on that, when I travel and fish a new lake for a few days I always hire a guide on day one. They are always helpful, informative and help me understand the lake. I have a tremendous amount of experience fishing and generally have great trips on the lakes in this area, yet I still try to learn more all the time. I have learned some very valuable tips from guides which I continue to use to this day. Some of the best guide trips I've ever had are ones where we didn't catch hardly anything, however I did learn a tremendous amount. When I hire a guide it is not to just catch a lot of fish, it is to learn the who, what, when, where, why and how of fishing that lake and that species. Take advantage of your time with a guide and learn how to fish, don't be afraid to ask questions. Ask them to show you how to rig your pole, tie knots, etc... it might mean slowing down and not doing as much fishing, but you will be glad you did.

Sometimes reports appear to be bogus, such as there is no way a person could catch 111 walleye in a trip, etc... However that is no stretch, especially if they know what they are doing and the fishing is excellent. I've had numerous trips on Stockton where the walleye were doing well, catch 40-50 walleye in 4 hours or so, if we would have stayed longer we would have caught many, many more. Now please don't misunderstand, these are special days which don't happen all the time, but they do happen. I've been called all kinds of things about my crappie reports, there are days we go out and catch 30 keepers in an hour, it happens several times a year, especially when the fish are concentrated. We usually come home because we have our limits. However could catch more crappie than one could count if we kept fishing. There are, however, several trips a year when the bite is tough and it is difficult to catch only a handful of fish. We don't tend to post those reports very often, usually only the best trips we have. I typically go out 100+ times a year, some trips are too good to be true, most good, some bad and occasionally some very, very bad. It's fishing and fish are a wild animal, they respond different to weather conditions, pressure, etc... It is great to get out and enjoy the outdoors regardless of the results, just cherish the awesome trips, share info with your fellow fisherman, and enjoy life!!!
