Certainly not in my opinion. Others may differ.

Only if it rolls completely over. In that case you have a bad lure. I say the more wobble the better it is. Check out a Deps Buzzjet on YouTube. I have one and it it the loudest, most wobbley top water I have. It will catch em.

I think with what I'm working on I'm about even with the buzzjet on wobble but on roll I think I've got more. There's more tinkering to do yet. I may glue one up and fish it this weekend a little just to see really what I've got here. A buzzjet type prop would be cool to add some resistance but with what I'm working with I don't think it's doable.

wouldn't call myself a wakebait expert

but

sometimes a little tight wiggle works better than a big wide wobble

and sometimes it doesn't

silent can be better than noisy too

large feathered treble will add resistance

but not so big it kills the action

And a big Amen to the "silent" part, especially in super-clear water conditions. All depends on what they want that day but IMHO, on TR anyway, silent outdoes rattling. Not many baitfish have rocks in their guts that rattle :-) ! :secret-laugh:

It's got silent other than the hooks of course. I can add a rattle if I wanted but for now I want to see it work. Excellent call on the feathers.

I don't think there is such thing as a "perfect" waking action honestly. For instance, my favorite waker is the ms slammer. No 2 baits will run the same no matter how much tinkering you do with them. Some run perfectly straight, others roll on their side a bit, some will dive a few feet if you want, others not. I have several and they all run differently but all get bit. Its kind of like the old school warts (annoying if you're the OCD type but they work)

Oh, and has anybody tried the IMA Roumba? It looks kinda cool but I've yet to try one
