what is considered lower meramec

Another post got me to thinking and rather than hijacking someone else's thread I'd thought it best to start a new one:  What is considered to be the "lower" Meramec?  And........................Go.

from Times Beach or route 66 Park to Flamm City at the Mississippi is what I consider the " Lower Meramec"

my opinion... Below the Bourbeuse, definitely below the Big

Yeah, I'd say below the Bourbeuse.  The river changes character quite a bit below the Bourbeuse--wider, slower, often murkier.

Middle would be anywhere between Maramec Spring and the Bourbeuse, but you could break it up into "upper middle" from Maramec Spring to the mouth of the Huzzah, "middle" from there to about Hwy. K, and "lower middle" from K to the Bourbeuse.

The paddler's guide says upper is from Short Bend to Blue Springs, middle from Blue Springs to Hwy 30-47, and lower from Hwy 30-47 to the Mississippi.

They might just separate it like that by how it fit on the page for the book though.

This I know. I have had more impacts to my boat on the lower river than I have up from robertsville

Glad to see my thinking is along the same lines as most.  Personally, I would draw the line at Big River.  But ONLY because I've never fished below there.  Generally speaking I only fish below the Bourbeuse in the fall and winter and it is a completely different river (color wise) than it is in the spring and summer.

I feel like for me at least for now, anywhere I'm much more likely to get a gar rather than a bass (white bass types included) is what I consider the lower meramec. As such I feel anything from the bend by Unger further downstream, and in some cases anything further downstream of 141 is Lower. Most the stuff above that still has more of an Ozark feel with lots of trees, and not as much human made stuff built up around it. At least to me.
