My buddy sent me this. Now we have another possible culprit other than stripers on Beaver Lake. :D

Hope they didnt rip that catfish's throat/stomach open when they pulled a dead bass out of its gullet.

The bass was probably dead.  I've seen A LOT of dead bass on Beaver (big ones too).  Deep hooked fish or expired in a livewell and turned loose is my guess.  Catfish probably wouldn't chase down and eat a 4lb bass. The bass is too quick to get away (I'm guessing).

I know what you're saying though.  I still think the worst thing for a bass is a bass angler.  Or someone who takes every single thing they catch joke and cooks it (especially when caught in a net). No selective harvest.

Seriously? Get a grip. a big cat ate a good bass. that's life. Both are a native fish and that same thing has been happening for thousands of years. J-doc is right, a bass's biggest enemy is bass anglers. I guarantee people hook and kill more 4 pound bass than that catfish will eat in it's life, whether they kill them intentionally or not.

Just because something doesn't fit your agenda of what you like to fish for doesn't mean that everything that goes against it should be killed or forbidden.

This is the exact same attitude that makes me dislike bass fisherman more than any other group of fisherman.  Just because a fish isn't a bass doesn't give it any less right to live in that water than your beloved bass.

I must apologize my thumbs or mental defect caused an incorrect post on my part.  It was supposed to say "I hope they DID NOT ripout the big cats throat.  Lancer until you quoted me I would have put $100 bet on what I said.  I shall correct it.  I put way more value on a 40 pounder catfish than I do a 4 pound bass..

I do believe the OP was simply making a joke folks.  Let's not start a "Bass are Sacred Unicorns" thread.   Keep it light....laugh, smile.  Way too many things screwed up in this country right now than a catfish eating a bass.  Dead or alive.

indeed J-Doc. You are correct.

I was thinking it was amazing how a fish could get something like that into it's gullet. But then I thought about those TX steakhouses where you can get a 72oz steak for free of you eat it in an hour. Maybe catfish have the same sort of ritual.

Good stuff then.

I may have jumped at that a bit, just seemed a bit ridiculous. Makes more sense that you do not feel that way actually.
