I'm sure the 80 degree temps will bring out the queen Mary's. I have fished LOZ fairly regularly (6-10 times a year, evidently not regularly enough) and never had a time where I can say I caught a limit of keeper bass. Granted, I spent about 2-3 years going exclusively for crappie; on a side note, I can usually catch crappie pretty consistently now. But, I have always loved bass fishing. I know LOZ gets hammered pretty good by a lot of anglers that are evidently a lot better than me, but it is somewhat detecting  to go out and get worked all the time. I may catch one keeper or so but never consistent catching. I guess if I could I would be a pro!  Why am I not good?!!  (Just kidding).

You don't have to be all that good of a fisherman to rule the tournament scene here, all you have to truly be good at is stacking rocks and making brush disappear.

I spent about a hour with the red eyed shad this enening and got one dink in the back of soap creek. The shad were about non existent back there for some reason. Maybe it was just me. This has been a year I just about would like to forget.

Give me two hours with a Redeye on these red areas in Soap and I guarantee I can catch 10-20 bass.....but only 2-3 will be 15+ if I'm lucky.IMG_20150922_224024.thumb.jpg.a419348bf7Jump over to the North side and drop a jig around those last 5-6 docks with mud poles and there will be at least one more keeper.   After that I'd be headed to the back of another creek arm.

That long empty bank in the back of the cove was the first one I hit. That is where I got the dink. And the 1st point on the other side is where I got the first keeper. I will say though I did not hammer it by any means. I did not do it diagonally either. I see your point in that but I was not alone. The shad schools were few and far between when I was back there. Like I said I got to wonder if I hit it a little off time.

I understand fully the way you discribed fishing those banks but even if .i was by myself I do not think I could get away with it. Here It is almost 1am and my shoulder will not let me sleep. v q

Wrench gives some darn good advice and a diagram to boot... Listen to what he's saying as this will apply to several areas not just Soap Creak. You da man Wrench!!

you better have a couple hundred piles if you are going to RULE the tournament scene and constantly putting in new ones because with today's electronics they won't be just yours for long. That means putting a lot of time on the water and hard work. Oh, you better be able to fish a little to ?

I'm coming down this weekend and wondering if anyone has been out recently for bass. I read the BFL results and it sounds like the winner was using a creature bait around docks.

I I wonde if there will be a buzzbait bite yet?  Are they not in summer patterns anymore? Any help would be appreciated.

Two weekends ago I was at table rock and caught some off a spoon around breakwaters. I wonder if that may work at LOZ. I will give it a try. I will report on how I do.

There is a buzzbait bite now. Caught 2 keepers Sunday morning. Rest on spinnerbait and jig.

Took my daughter and headed for Soap just to be sure I could back up my words.   In 2 1/2 hours I ended up with 16 fish, 4 of which were over 15".    Little Miss Cantfishforshit just couldn't get the hang of the Redeye, she changed up to a square bill and a Spinnerbait, and pitched a jig behind me....but she blanked. :(

Yeah I should have had the kid throw a buzzbait.  I thought about it.   That probably would have broke her slump, gained us another keeper or two.... and got her really excited.
