Bgctrading Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 . I have a 2002 tracker boat with a 2002 75 mercury. It generally runs perfectly starts right up and planes out perfect. But every now and the it won't rev all the way up and plane out. I just bought this boat this spring and it had been sitting for 2 years prior. Doed anyone have any advice?
Bgctrading Posted September 25, 2015 Author Posted September 25, 2015 Today it started fine but it idled very rough while trolling and it would never turn above 3500 rpm trying to plan out any help would be greatly appreciated
tho1mas Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 I thought Wrench would have seen this by now. He will know. I would start with fuel lines - if it sat that long. Good luck - nothing worse than a motor that does run right.
Bgctrading Posted September 26, 2015 Author Posted September 26, 2015 New fuel lines and filter and bulb I'm thinking the carbs have something going on sure hope fishnwrench checks this out. I tried to pm but he does not accept pms.
fishinwrench Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 On a float trip and not checking in as often as usual Likely a carb or fuel quality issue. Take a sample of the fuel in a glass jar. If the fuel looks OK you'd better get it in for repairs asap. Don't operate it if one or more cylinders are running lean, you'll score a cylinder. Oh and if it says I'm not accepting PM's I don't know how to fix that. I've gotten PM's from others recently. Hmm.
Bgctrading Posted September 26, 2015 Author Posted September 26, 2015 I wouldn't bother a man on a float lol. What's the name of your shop in loz. I'm new around here. The fuel has been drained and fresh premium with mercury treatmentioned added.
Bgctrading Posted September 26, 2015 Author Posted September 26, 2015 Is there anything I can check or do I am fairly mechanically inclined just haven't worked on outboards. Also how far behind is your shop?
fishinwrench Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Yeah there is stuff you could do, but I really don't have time to type (explain) it all right now. I'm all caught up at the shop.....otherwise I wouldn't be out playing BilletHead 1
Bgctrading Posted September 27, 2015 Author Posted September 27, 2015 I understand. I am from down near springfield and just happen to be off Monday could I come and leave it with you?
