BilletHead Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Been watching this tree. It had six encircling the tree. We had picked one and let the others be. Two have started drying up and we picked two others leaving one. The largest was fourteen pounds. Well then after cleaning these two we did a double batch of pickled hens, sauteed some in butter and onions. These we will freeze in small batches for later use. Put some in wild turkey soup. Loaded five trays in the dehydrator. The last one at the base of the tree I will pick in a day or two. It is still fresh, BilletHead rps, dan hufferd, tho1mas and 1 other 4 "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" Gavin Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 Guess I need to visit my hen trees. Still a few pounds downstairs though.
Johnsfolly Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Great find. I still haven't found a hen tree in any of my mushroom areas. So am a bit jealous.
