Has anyone met or talked with the New Manager Ben Havens

Hope he does the Hatchery Some good compared to what it used to be run like.

Sounds pretty good I hope he considers stocking the river like they use to.

Not sure but I think the goal for a Hatchery manager is to manage the hatchery. Raise enough trout.....but not too many.  Keep all the quarterly numbers between the lines of a grid.

Stocking the river any differently than before isn't likely, but if they do they will certainly get on a hilltop to crow about it.  So you'll know.

Well the river a few years ago was getting Stocked more Regular, then got to the point you might as well hang it up fishing for Trout in the Winter.

Yeah whatever they were doing (stocking schedule) back in 2002-03-04 was really working well.   2005 it was flooded all winter and I don't think they stocked any at all.   Since then it has only been kinda so-so overall.

Alright I'll jump in.  I'm a casual observer at best.  Over the last five or so years haven't the parks been updating their stocking runs...and...hasn't that limited the number of fish available to stock in the first place.  In the early 2000s wasn't the take home amount per day in the parks lower then now.  I thought I remember reading here that forced more fished to be released so they have to release them smaller to keep up?

Hello mic, in the early 2000's there were no problems in the park. Actually from the 60's , all the way up to the time of MM, fishing was as good as it gets. We did not realize how good it was until we lost it. And the take home limit thing had always been 5 up until MM. First they tried a voluntary 4 fish limit, to buy time. Then it was a mandatory 4 fish, to buy more time. Next it was a new hatchery, which bought them a couple of years. After the new hatchery was in operation for a couple of years and things were still on the decline, MM ran out of time. Now we have a new guy and just in a couple of months I have seen good things happening. More fish and better fish. Maybe a few lunkers this winter. Time will tell.
