Alex Heitman Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 I was fishing down below baptist camp right at daylight this past summer and I heard some noise in the woods that was strange. A few minutes later I heard the screeching sound of the mountain lion. This went on a couple of times but I never seen the cat. I was very scared after that and was watching my back the entire time. It was a very scary walk back to the truck through the paths after that. Even though I never seen the cat I was positive it was what I heard. There is so much wilderness down there for them to hide that I do believe they are there. Amery 1
fishinwrench Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 The black one I saw was in no hurry to go anywhere and it was really bold to even be close to where we were at. Chansaws, earth moving equipment, and concrete trucks had been running there all day. I was the first to spot it but I made sure one of the other guys saw it too, and that guy lives right around the corner from me, doesn't drink or do drugs and goes to church every Sunday. He'll back me up 100% that it was a large (but thin/skinny) black "panther" type cat. Nothing else it could have been.
fishinwrench Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 While we are telling crazy animal stories..... I have a Llama story and a gorilla story too. Yep I said gorilla! Running loose in my neighborhood. I had a neighbor that bred pronghorn antelope, monkeys and various other exotic animals and sometimes they'd go on the prowl. Sometimes it was funny, and other times kinda scary. He didn't do felines though. In 06 my neighborhood was hit with a F2 twister and everything from peacocks to a big male bull gorilla was running free and all freaked out. A few were never recovered and assumed dead.....but you never know !

fishinwrench Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 If you ever paddled past a crane rookery on the river and heard some of the crazy sounds they can make you might think you were about to be attacked by a whole colony of Bigfoot's. Amery, BilletHead, awhuber and 1 other 4
Alex Heitman Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 It was on the current river about 5 miles below montauk. Amery 1
Danimal Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 I encountered one standing in the road late one night while driving down hwy 23 (AR) near the community of Cass (Mulberry River area) in the late 80's. I had to come to a near stop. It just stood there looking into the headlights for a few seconds and then casually jumped about 15 or so ft. across the ditch and went into the woods. Heard one scream while camped on the Ouachita River in the late 90's. My then girlfriend and I sat straight up in the tent from a deep sleep, at which point she asked "What the hell was that?". I had a .45 in the tent that I keep for threats more of the human kind while wilderness camping, but neither of us slept very well after that. LOL RELEASE THOSE BROWNIES!!
Gavin Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Have seen what appeared to be large cat tracks in the sand not far above Parker on the Current. Never have seen one though.
fishinwrench Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 There are alot of critters in the woods that are common as can be, yet I never see them on foot. Skunks come to mind. They are all over the roads DEAD but I hardly ever see one walking in the woods or fields. I've only seen 2 live bobcats in my whole life. It's kinda insane that I've seen more cougars/panthers/tigers running wild than I have our own native bobcats. Hell I've NEVER seen a whippoorwill. Or if I did I didn't know what it was. But they sing at night so I know they are out there somewhere. There are plenty of things living in the woods that very seldom get observed, so it's hard to seriously doubt anything. I turned over a log once up on top of a ridge, a long long LONG way from any constant source of water and guess what was under the log? A friggen BULLFROG! What the hell was he doing THERE?
