It sure is a sad way for the era to end.  Mizzou didn't show up to play today.  I would have thought the last two games would have been "win two for the gipper" type games.  I look at couple of other fishing forums with football "fans", and most other folks think the Missouri football program is down the drain with all the campus stuff going on.

I was worried about that "win one for the Gipper" thing today, but it wasn't a contest.  A blah game, played in lousy weather.

Les Miles hasn't left LSU yet. Neither has any other coach. Mizzou isn't a destination program that attracts elite coaches. We will have to be satisfied with a coach with "solid" credentials and a "passion" to move Missouri football to the "next level."   Which will be tough to do.

Lets not down play the fact that Arkansas imposed their will on Mizzou. This was bittersweet, the focus was on Pinkel's last game instead of Ark walking off with the Battle Line trophy. But I gotta admit, that trophy looks like a drunk welder called a geographer & built it in the garage. This new "rivalry" is Doo Doo

I get really tired of the hate/ disrepect for Les MIles from Arky fans (and LSU fans too but thats another rant).

That stems from the 2007 pregame press conference when Lester called us Ar-Kansas. We know how that ended.

Ive always been a fan of the mad hatter, but he made his own bed with that comment regarding Arkansas.

money rules anymore in college sports.  And pro sports.  We all know that.   Which 5 million a year coach can get the best "players" to make him a $8 million coach.  Which is why I switched to the golf channel this afternoon, Australian open, good competition.  Individual play, if you screw up, it is your fault only.

Not a good way to end the Pinkel era. I'm still very thankful for what he did.

With that disclaimer, the team didn't show up in Fayetteville on Friday. While the offense was the main problem of course, the defense didn't play anywhere near good enough against the run. And every time Brandon Allen rolled out of the pocket, you knew it was going to be a completion for a first down.

Barry Odom should be considered, but I'm in no way wedded to him. First time HCs tend to struggle in the SEC, and it might take years for Odom to get the hang of things. Do we have time to let him learn on the job? I'm honestly not sure. I think we need to look at the mid-major head coaches, which Rhoades is apparently doing (he interviewed Matt Campbell at Toledo before he signed with Iowa State, and Temple's Matt Rhule is in the running as well.) I also think you hit up established head coaches who are known to be having issues with their AD. That could include Sonny Dykes at Cal and Dana Holgerson at West Virginia...possibly even Mark Richt if the UGA administration makes him feel enough heat.  They probably don't up and leave for Missouri, but they might, and they are the kind of "sure thing" that Missouri could really use right now. You know they can recruit at a power 5 level and field teams good enough to make bowl games in the SEC east. That would be huge.

The other question is whether Mizzou accepts a bowl bid at 5-7. Given the way last weekend shook out, it's a virtual certainty that they will be offered, most likely to the Independence Bowl, as there simply will not be enough .500 teams (and Mizzou's academic rankings put them near the front of the line as a replacement team). The question is whether the old staff (now led by Andy Hill) will want to coach one more game.

I'm a football addict, so I'm sure I'd end up watching us play Central Michigan, or whatever. But I understand if the clamor to see this Mizzou team play again is less than deafening.

Curator's meeting tomorrow afternoon.  That would seem to imply the coaching search is over.  I think the odd's favor Odom, if they announce tomorrow, but it is anybody's guess.

They have a done a good job of keeping this under wraps for sure.

It is Odom. You never know with coaches, but this was a great choice IMO. We will see how it works out.
