This is incredible.  I like the really wild paint jobs on some of them like the bottom center two.

Why have a lure in your boat that you're afraid of throwing because of fear of losing it? Whats the point, just leave them at home & become a collector. My Dad is like that. If it works fish it, don't obsess over it. Its a lure designed to catch fish not an investment for retirement. After I've caught several hundred bass on a certain crankbait, it gets "retired" & never goes back in the boat. On occasion, it comes out of retirement. But I'm never ever afraid to fish it when big bass are biting. That's what they're intended for.

As for the notion that Don Iviono is going to use the same original plastic is far fetched. We've all seen the bone colored plastic from the 80's that has a slight blue tint. Its the same stuff that bomber Long A's were molded from. They scratched the chrome off the belly for a reason. I doubt seriously that he gets the exact plastic & if he does, I doubt that it matters. What really matters & the real difference? Its the lead rattle vs the steel ball rattle. Lead does all kinds of weird things over 20-30 years of use. It gets reshaped, pulverized, & out of whack. that's the curveball, not the plastic. But, this is my opinion & I could be totally wrong, just ask my wife.

I'm not a wart thrower the ones I have I acquired and ur right they sit in the basement.  I think I may have even sold a few to Alex....nice work guy glad to see their gettin use.

Also worth nothing....companies that deal with molten plastics have a hell of a time keeping everything consistent.  Meaning quality control sucks.  The same plastic will have vastly different properties depending on injection temperatures, cooling rates, and cooling distribution.  The same goes for paint...there was and still is quite a bit of variation lure to lure it was just way worse 30 years ago.  I imagine it's exacerbated by the fact that they are 5 dollar baits to begin with.  it's all in our heads.....just has to have a touch of purple.

MJK86....... Is that a collection of wiggle warts?  You might be shocked at just how little they are worth. I have mentioned on here we have a man down here at LOZ who is one of the nation foremost lure collectors. There are things about any collectible  lure that make its value rise other than its name. One of the most is the box it came in. Painting custom colors will hurt the value as well.  The value comes in the rarity of the original color, condition etc. Now if you got something like a 1920s Heddon bait in the original box you got yourself a money maker.

Apparently, I'm wrong about the plastic because Bill Norman is going to use it again. Hey, sometimes it's good to be wrong.

FWIW, you can 3D print Polycarbonite (Lexan).  All you need is a scan from a laser scanner. So you could easily copy ANY lure on the market. Even without taking them apart (CT Scan). The future of stealing lure design continues to easier/more affordable every day. Kind of scary really. And of course, this doesn't just apply to the fishing world. Everyday a new material becomes available to 3D print....and at finer slice sizes. You now can print metal too, but at larger, less detailed slice thicknesses. But they now have the ability to print fine detail in plastic and add a metal coating that adheres to the plastic and keeps the very detailed shape.

We are just on the edge of game changing technology that will revolutionize manufacturing in all industries.
