I got a fishing kayak for Christmas.  Besides the oar and safety equipment, what are some must haves before I head out this spring.

If you're fishing lakes like I do, an anchor trolley is a must have to position yourself with the wind.

Nope, the way an anchor trolley works is you run an O ring up and down the length of your kayak through pulleys in the front and back.  The anchor rope runs through the O-ring and so you can put the anchor anywhere along the side of your boat front to back depending on which way the wind is coming so you can face the way you want.

What he said.  First time or two out I just tied off my anchor in the carry handle right next to the seat.  Doing that puts you at the mercy of the wind as you pivot around where you're tied.  With the trolley, your attachment point can be anywhere from the bow to the stern so you can position yourself with the wind.   Since I'm a fly fisher, I don't mount anything in my cockpit as it just gets in the way.

For mine a cooler that fits and a milk crate that fits.  I have a 2nd larger cooler that doesn't let my milk crate fit but I only use that on trips I know I only need a few baits.

I seen running lights advertised somewhere. Really take a bit of advise and stay the hell off lakes at night. The big thing they do is give another boater a mics misconceprion  of distance.
