I had the chance to learn a few things about bass fishing from Ken Cook while standing in a parking lot after an FLW event. In that 1 hour, I learned more about bass behavior than I've learned ever since by reading articles. The man was a biology genius. He reminded me of a college professor as he divulged a treasure trove of information. He didn't have to stand there & talk to some bass fan in a parking lot. He did it for the love of the sport. It just shows you what kinda good guy he was.

RIP Ken Cook....

That's an awesome story.  Cool that a pro would take the time and freely give away such information.

Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message.

He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!

A lot of the old guard are like that. Catch up to them when they have a spare minute and they will treat you not as a fan at an event, but as a fellow fisherman. Have met several of the guys from the 1980s-1990s who were that way.

Sad news. He made some of the better episodes of the old Bassmaster TV show, fishing with Chuck Cobb.

Him and my uncle were fishing buddies back when he was just a fisheries biologist in Oklahoma. I was around him several times when I was too young to really appreciate what they were sitting around talking about. Saw him after my uncle passed away and we had a really good visit and I realized then that I should have paid more attention back when I had the chance. Awesome guy.

So sad, I had a buddy that died the exact same way.....complaining of indigestion then having a massive heart attack. Boys, we need to stay on top of our health with regular check ups.
