ruthead Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Caught this one New Years Day. Beautiful fish from Roaring River. laker67 1 "Pretty soon we may not have any rights left because it might infringe on someone's rights"
laker67 Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 It is a southwestern sub species of rainbow with some type of black and yellow fungus growing out of its mouth. duckydoty, Buzz and trythisonemv 3
ruthead Posted January 10, 2016 Author Posted January 10, 2016 Fungisoleechious! Hadn't caught one marked like that before. laker67 1 "Pretty soon we may not have any rights left because it might infringe on someone's rights"
Al Agnew Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 The dark splotches are parr markings, found on juvenile trout. They usually disappear by the time the fish is 8-10 inches long. Pretty fish...nice intact fins make it look like a wild spawned rainbow. Eric82 1
motroutbum Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Yep, That's a wild fish. Definitely not stocked. laker67 1 There are two types of people. Those who dream dreams and wish, then there are the do'ers. I am a do'er!
ness Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 I checked with Hank Patterson. Definitely a cuttyrainbrown. trythisonemv, MattS, Deadstream and 2 others 5 John

Sharps4590 Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Wellll....not quite. There's some brookie in there also... I believe it's a "cuttybrookybowbrown" I'd rather live my entire life, living as if there is a God and Jesus and to find out at the end that there isn't, than to live my entire life as if there is no God and Jesus and to find out at the end that there is.
mhall02 Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Nicely colored rainbow there! There is a small amount of reproduction in RR, seen some 1-2" long before in there years ago. Rainbows in a stream long enough will color up nicely, gets where they look 'stream bread' after some time.
