Tried to put in at Indian, closed, so put in at State Park.

Two guys loading up as I launched at 10am, right away bad sign. Wind blowing 15-20 out of the south water was way off colorered at ramp. Went up to point 5 area clear water so tried varmint, little jig and stickbait, nothing. Went in little Indian to get out of the wind and 4 boats in there with me, varmint and 5/16 jig notta. Tried some tried and true mainlake channel banks but Way to much wind for the varmint, so tried fg jig and slow rolling blade, zipola.

Tried slowing down and concentrating on proven channel bank all day, not a sniff. First time in memory for long time skunked on the Rock!

Water temperature 48-51. Tried my best but nothing to show for it, humbled by the day but still had fun trying! I'll get em next time!

Thanks for the report. I would take your day over mine any time - I was at work!! Lol.

Boy that's a rough outing. It happens to the best of us though. Nothing to be ashamed of as Cheese mentioned a day fishing is better than a day working no matter the results. Try a wart at all in the wind? Anything vertical like a spoon out deeper?

Unstable and changing weather patterns, air and water temps, water clarity and pool levels usually make for a nasty anti-fish catching concoction. Sounds like most that got out today for the balmy air temps got a dose of that today.

Thanks for the report Hammer.  I have nothing to offer as far as ideas, I would have probably fished about the same way you did.  That wind here in Bella Vista yesterday was blowing pretty hard.

What seems to be the problem?lol

Found a few bites on the bluff bank by Jakes Point, slow rolling a 1/4oz underspin (Jakked FlashJakk) with a 3inch paddletail. Found fish suspended about 10 ft down in 15 to 20 fow. Some were even hitting small minnows on top (couldn't get those to bite)

yep, it was a very difficult day to catch anything, especially since there does not appear to be many bass up shallower.  if they were, it would have been a great chunk and wind day.

IMO, there is way too much good cover in the water for there not to be bass shallow. Also, water temps are still high enough for them to be there in good numbers. The problem with shallow fish is that they are more susceptible to weather changes, falling water levels and just about any other factor that can affect their desire to feed.

Since shallow fish in thick cover can't be looked at on sonar, the tendency is to say they aren't there when they don't bite. Right now, there sooooo much cover for them disperse in that unless you can get enough of them to bite to reveal some sort of pattern to their location, it's just hard as heck to get anything going in the skinny water. Can't rip and tear thru it either in 50-degree water like you can in the spring when you're looking for them.
