Old plug Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Well thats all good. They can do things. I know a spot that is really non discript. I have a neighbor and his buddy fish from dock there. As far as catching crappie in the winter the place is something like the mail. Rain shine sleet or snow they are going to catch crappie there. It has been going on for several years. It does not match any of the things it is suppose to for a winter hole. Its not protected, faces north and is not on channel bank. They fish with nothing but little tube bait with crappie candy on it. That all I can really say. They would gun me down by sunset over this one.
Chief Grey Bear Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Not my pic but this is what crappie fishing on Table Rock used to look like. Everybody had limits like this. It's also why people didn't keep 10 inch fish. But then came a wave of wannabe's that didn't have a clue. I'm sure if you worked hard enough and caught it on the right day, you could do it again. Chief Grey Bear Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 It is. I'm just saying that's what I remember it being like years ago. I wasn't meaning to imply this was pic from T-Rock. MOPanfisher Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Back when way fewer people were on the lakes keeping every crappie they caught, and there was no length limit and a 30 fish limit, coolers of big crappie were very common. It's a very changing things any more, Truman is probably the most consistent, putting out like an ugly cheerleader. Others like Pomme a couple years ago limits of 11 inch fish were the norm one spring. Good water levels (meaning high usually) leads to a great hatch and good fishing 3 years later.

Mike Sounds like crazy talk to me. What's next, limits of slabs on wiggle warts? You're crazy Mike On a separate note, we need to dust off our jerkbait sticks when the water clears up on our end.

But I do have a gang of stalkers that like to pounce on every word that I say. So I just wanted to be clear before they got their panties in a wad.
