Riggin the A-Rig

Great information.  Never been to TR but I figure down here on Beaver it will work just as well. With the muddy water do you think I should hold off on the rig? Or try and find the green water is another options reckon.

Thanks for the info Bill  I am still using everything you taught me on that trip when we caught that fish.   The biggest is not shown, which went right at 8.

That is me fishing with Bill a few years ago.  We also caught 6.9 that day.

Good stuff Bill! Only other thing I can add would be to cast and hold on with 2 hands or you might loose your whole set-up. If you put to much gumption on your cast and that braid catches and your not ready, bye-bye. ?

WW  that is a great point, and made me giggle.  Anytime you are dealing with braid you have a chance of throwing the entire rig into the pond.  I always not only tell folks but try and practice it myself, that if you catch a fish or you get hung up, make sure you strip your line back to that point or you may have the Boo-Booo of a lifetime waiting to happen.

Thanks Bill very good read, I did very well last spring on the rock with the A rig,but had my braid coil in my reel a couple of times but now I will try running the line back out after a hook up, thanks

buy titanium , no more broken arms ever

i agree casting can be tricky ,try mono or fluorocarbon because if  we don't cast properly with heavy braid sometimes it's good bye A rig hello birds nest

I have always been a 6 to 1 type guy, but I don't reel that rig much when fishing it, so for just picking up slack the new 8.1 or 7.1 might be the deal.

Never fished the A-rig before last March.  Hired Bill for 6 hours and learned so much about it.  Have used it a few times since with some success.  Still have a lot to learn I'm sure but it's another weapon in the arsenal.
