I can a few applictions for it.
jolicious Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 I don't know if there is a name for this method, but years ago (before we "knew better" - yet caught more fish) we would Texas rig a worm on a wide gap hook then put a sheet metal screw in the other end of the worm. The hook was on top and the screw-weighted bottom would give a base from which the worm would coil / uncoil when the line was pulled. Might have to do that again just for bold time's sake.

He needs to give 5 pound test on a 7' ML rod fishing a 1/16 oz. Ned a fling. Or if he wants to get really crazy he can always throw a float-n-fly. Now that is finesse. Finesse probably means different things in different parts of the country. Deep weedline fishing is a major summertime locational pattern in our northern tier natural lakes. 8# test is as low as I can go with any confidence that I'll have a chance of getting a good fish out of the deep veggies especially cabbage and coontail. Doubly so if the lake unfortunately has zebes. dtrs5kprs 1 "There was a time that I didn't fish, but I cannot remember it."

The Irish market version of that worm is 4.5". Asian market I believe it is 2.5". Black market knock off's are 10.5". Champ188, MOsmallies and jolicious 3

mjk86 Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 lol and gross at where this thread is headed.....while on the topic of finesse stuff, I had a blast this year with split shots and crawlers using a 6ft 6inch fenwick river runner. Its a light power, fast action, only rated for 4-8# line. Spooled with 4# mono and a 16th oz split shot it was super fun times. Its a great little rod for only 100 bucks. The beauty of the finnesse stuff at table rock is that with all that wide open water you can play the fish and really enjoy the battle. I use the same setup for crappie in the swamp that i fish normally and if you hook a nice bass your pretty much toast, you need the big stuff for 2# of bass and 5# of milfoil (or whatever that stuff is)
dblades Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Fished this rig around docks back in the 90's,when I first came back to Missouri, just using a small nail for weight, Since then I've kind of got out of the habit of using it, and moved of to other methods..
