IF you're looking for a a Trout Rod

CajunAngler has found a diamond in the rough. For those of you that are looking for a Light rod for trout or crappie, take a look at the Browning Air Stream 7 foot 2 piece Rod. They call it a UL, but it fished like a "L" and it is not a buggy whip. I got a chance to fish CajunAngler's Browning Rod 

yesterday and I found it to be very similar to my go to Rod the Dorber OMT. I am very fond of the Dorber OMT84UL AND I fully recommend them, but they are often out of stock and are 80 ish dollars. The Browning is listed at $59.99 thru Bass Pro. I have no need for one, but I'm sorely tempted to go buy two of them on put them back for whenever I do need them. Quite a nice Rod for $60. Very comfortable handle that secures the reel well. Light weight with pretty cosmetics.

Hey thanks...im gonna try this out!! Currenly i use a fenwick river runner light fast 2piece for crappie, Also im a fan of the silverhawks for the cheaper price.  Ill def be ordering one of these to try it out.  I also have a st croix avid that i use thats a 6ft 6 light fast...its a wonderful rod, but i think the river runner is just as good and casts a 64th oz jig further, and its cheaper.

Tax return coming....thanks for the tip. Do you have any recommendations for a reel? I mainly fly fish but when I can't I need a good real. Ashamed to admit I usually for the $20 special, thinking about it, that might be the reason I don't like spinner fishing....

The Pflueger President is a good buy at $60. I get the 30 size, but try to look at one in person to make sure that the size in right for you. The President will never be confused with a Shimano Stella, but its a very functional reel that tends to hold up to some abuse.

The Air Stream is a very different rod than the River Runner. The River Runner could be called the "River Rubber" because it is so soft. I have a river runner and I would swap it in a heartbeat for an Air Stream if ANYONE wants to take me up on that offer!

Maybe we have different models of river runner.  Is yours an ultralight?  Mine is a 6ft 9 light fast 2pc, comparing it to the avid its quite similar in action. Also a light fast, but its 6ft 6.  It can sure sling a tiny jig a long ways.

Im a fan of the presidents for sure, i have several, although i tend to like reels with a larger spool diameter now.  Also, i think folks tend to put too small of reels on spinning gear, IMO a spinning reel smaller than i size 30 is useless.  Mine has a size 35 arbor.  The larger reel handles line better and balances the rod better...just my 2 cents.

I'll have to check the River Rubber when I get home. I'll post the model number etc then. The sizes smaller than 30 are too small IMO, but the 30 works nicely for me. I have a couple of 35's on Ned rods.

The Fenwick Elite Tech River Runner I have is the ERR-69L-FS-2. It is light, it is comfortable. Reel stays secure. Throws light jigs well. Still sensitive. Very forgiving rod to protect skinny line. It's just a lot softer than the Air Stream. It's also a lot more expensive. I think you could buy 2 Air Streams for the cost of one River Runner. I'd rather have the Air Stream, but the River Runner was a warranty replacement for a Elite Tech that a kid I took fishing broke. It performs much better than the broken rod, Lol.

If that Browning is the green rod, I almost bought one last year when I was looking for a longer UL. Just couldn't get my head around the 2pc nature of it. Shame most rods in that class are 2pc.

If given a choice, I will almost always go 1 piece, BUT I can't say that I really have ever noticed a dead spot in any rod from it being a multi-piece rod. I have 4 piece fly rods and 3 piece travel spinning rods. I have no complaints with them.

I know that you're not a one trick pony, but for the good of the group, I think they would be on the light side for Ned fishing.

Mjk if you like the larger spools as I do try the Pflueger Arbor 7430. I have one paired with a Loomis 7 ft. light action rod and it makes a great crappie rod. Even though it's $20 higher than the President I really like it supper smooth and good drag.
