February trip

We are approaching 7' above top power pool and flood gates are still dumping.

Dropping about a foot a day, anyone else foresee the gates closing this week?

Clearly, they will close the floodgates soon. I think it will be within 10 days for sure. I wish it would be tomorrow. They will be below 659 in less than a week at the current rate.

Flood gates are closed but they are running water through the conduit at the same CFS. (7200CFS this morning) Total flow is 30817CFS. I wouldn't look for the flows to slow down until they get below top of power pool.(659) I'm thinking they will want to get it in the 650 range before they back it off, to be ready for any spring rain. Then again, you never know what they're going to do.

The streamer bite has started to pick up a little. Especially in the late afternoon to dark. On cloudy overcast days, concentrate on the hard banks, hitting the small pockets of slack water. On sunny days try hitting the flooded grass and shallow inside bends.

I think I was below the dam one time when they were running water out of the conduit (guessing). It threw some crazy waves and odd currents. Not a fan. Of course that is just the immediate area of the dam that it matters.

SWPA Lake forecast says the "empty date" is Feb 28th.

On the app for SWPA there is a lake forecast of when the lake will be back to power pool assuming current generation patterns.

Says 2/28

Of course Table Rock is 98% of pool but still running.

What's the number they are shooting for 652?

Table rock may still be running 1-2 units, but nothing like it was...they got it down to pool and cut generation considerably...

Headed down Wednesday night, looks like we will be fishing 30,000 cfs all weekend
