Bigmo Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 I went by viney this morning and found the gates are closed again.
Bill Babler Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 I thought so, as there were no trucks parked back there Sunday. It is really stupid, no one is messing with the park at all. It would be real easy to just open the back ramp and forget about it, but powers that be don't have a clue. dtrs5kprs and Champ188 2 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Bill Babler Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Do we even know who is running it now, COE, State or County? http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
merc1997 Bo Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 well, actually we the tax payers own it. need to do what we did over at H highway when they tried to block it off. a couple of 4 wheel drives and some chain, and we had the ramp back open in a few minutes. had to do it twice before they left it alone. there are just times when the tax payers need to take a stance. bo Hughesy, awhuber, Champ188 and 1 other 4
Devan S. Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 I camped at Viney Creek 2 times last year. It's close an convenient for me and on the weekends almost always full with day use people (although less last year). I camped over memorial day and I know reservations were opened just a few days before that weekend and the park was nearly empty that weekend for what should be a busy weekend. I know the mo-state parks guys/gals said several times there was no way for them to break even down there. I wish someone could explain to the whole group that you cant miss one of the 3 busiest weekends by making last minute choices and then charge a $40 yearly pass that is only good 3 maybe 4 months of the year and expect to make money let alone break even. Still not sure why the COE wont just leave it open like Kings River. There sure are a lot of unanswered questions for a public park........
Members olbasser Posted February 4, 2016 Members Posted February 4, 2016 Have been talking with COE, MoParks and Fitzpatrick about this for the last couple months and you see the result. I think the lock was put on by COE but they claim that park is leased to MoParks. MoParks says its COE. Fitzpatrick says its COE but "trying" to get some long term lease to MoParks. I'm really p...ed as I spent $ 80.00 for COE pass and MoParks pass and can't use either one at Viney. Only thing I can recommend is to complain to COE, MoParks and Scott Fitzpatrick, I've a whole file of emails but nothing has changed. Last but not least I think lock pick will work. Somebody picked it once but lock was replaced.
Members elite203 Posted February 5, 2016 Members Posted February 5, 2016 Good set of bolt cutters is what everyone needs to add to their tool box. Those are the keys to anything! merc1997 Bo and Hughesy 2

Members olbasser Posted February 5, 2016 Members Posted February 5, 2016 Not against civil disobedience when necessary but also have to look who we hire as our representative and our representation. I contacted him about 30 days ago so l'll give him a chance to do something and for sure won't forget to follow-up every 30 days. On the other hand I see that there have been 444 reviews of this topic as of this date. Wonder how many emails and phone calls have been made demanding that park be opened. I may be the only one that uses the Viney launch, at least as far as our Rep knows. I would suggest that in local elections it doesn't take a lot of votes to change the outcome. I keep bringing up our local Rep rather than COE because sure does look like MoParks will become responsible. If not then time to return to COE. http://www.house.mo.gov/member.aspx?district=158 Link takes you to Fitzpatrick website for emailing. *T* 1
