merc1997 Bo Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 there are a few pieces of property on the lake that did not sell their property rights to the government when the lake went in. in those few cases, the owner still owns everything to waters edge. if the ramp is on corp property and you park within its take line, you are legal to do so. case in point is the emarld beach ramp. bo
wareaglecamo Posted February 11, 2016 Author Posted February 11, 2016 great information! thanks to everyone for the very good advice:) CHAMP188 . . . I fish out of a 15 1/2 ft aluminum boat with a 9.9 hp Yamaha (I also have a 5hp Honda) . . . I try to avoid crossing wide open water by launching very close to where I would like to fish . . . at COE ramps, I stay close and avoid the main lake . . . you're rig is much more stable AND can get from point A to point B in a fraction of the time it takes me . . . although your 200 CRANKBAITS might reduce your "top end" by as much as 0.10 mph . . . lol Champ188 1

wareaglecamo Posted February 11, 2016 Author Posted February 11, 2016 thanks holleybob for the "heads-up" and the "specifics" on that particular launch site:)
dtrs5kprs Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 This seems like one of those issues that will not be adequately addressed by COE because no one involved will like the answer.
wareaglecamo Posted February 11, 2016 Author Posted February 11, 2016 dtrs5kprs . . . hmmmmmm?? . . . elaborate a little??
Members usa made outdoors Posted February 11, 2016 Members Posted February 11, 2016 This is the first time I've ever posted to this forum but I've ran into this issue myself. Specifically with the ramp at Rice Camp down DD. Just recently as last summer they put up a "Donation Box" by the ramp but the sign by it reads like you have to pay( a little misleading for obvious reasons). No biggie except the homeowners have recently tried running people off the ramp with or without donation with threats such as calling the Sheriff. This happened to my dad last summer and again to me a couple weeks ago. They have went as far as to stretch yellow caution tape across the road. When this happened to my dad last summer he called the COE and they said that its still a public ramp and donations are optional. In other words they cannot run you off or make you pay. I agree that the larger ramps are more convenient especially with the courtesy docks and parking, but sometimes these smaller ramps get you a little closer to where you wanna fish. Also my parents use to own a small resort on the lake and the COE told them if they ever put in a ramp that it would have to be open to the public.

Would the Schooner Creek ramp be a public ramp then? We stayed in a house right by the ramp and the resort people said we could not use the ramp. Even said we would be willing to pay them and park the truck/trailer at the house so we would not take up any of their parking. They said they could not do that because the COE said if they let one person who was not staying at their resort use the ramp then they would have to let everyone. Sounded like BS but didn't argue because we had no idea the rules for sure. They acted like they owned the ramp. Off to call the COE. Edit: had to leave a message so waiting on a call back.
GREENTRITON Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Is the ramp at Kimberling inn open to public or is it resorts guest only??
