trythisonemv Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Its almost temperate bass and walleye time again! Anyone going fly fishing? Share your tips and tricks!
MOPanfisher Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 About once a week right now I end up in the boat barn messing with my walleye, crappie and by default white bass rods. I have cut off and retired different jig heads, weights, hook sizes, bodies etc. To the point it is almost embarrassing to anyone who doesn't understand, like my wife. Blll and trythisonemv 2

MOPanfisher Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 My wife really shakes her head when I take the jig and hook it on the top strand of the Barb wire fence, back up a ways and pretend I have caught a fish as I "play" the fish and walking forward. I would be embarrassed to admit even on here how much time I spent last summer doing that and practice casting in the yard while I was prohibited from fishing. trythisonemv and dtrs5kprs 2

BilletHead Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 My wife understands but doesn't when she has to work and I go without her . Trythisonemv, clousers, clousers, clousers and maybe an ASP streamer works for me, BilletHead trythisonemv 1 "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" Didn't have great luck on fly last year so I'm going fly rod only this year. Force those fish to take it and like it. Hopefully I luck into a wally as well. Then wander up the river and find some morel (in a perfect world) .
trythisonemv Posted February 12, 2016 Author Posted February 12, 2016 The owner of happy hook was in my store Wednesday and said the walleye have started moving up by the dam at Stockton. Also moving into river mouths. Unless we get major cold weather we may have a decent year. BilletHead 1
drew03cmc Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 I'd figure some 1/8oz heads and 3-4" grubs...problem solved. Andy
Mark Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 Where and when is the best place in MO for a newbie to go, hire a guide, and have a decent chance of catching walleye? Coming from near St. Louis, I am thinking Norfolk instead of lakes in SW MO simply because it is closer.
