I am new to this forum and have been using the Ned Rig for a year with good success. I live in the North Atlanta area and I am looking to expand my knowledge even farther.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What hooks are you using now?

What baits are you using?

Line size?

I think key take aways are:

1. Can't FIsh it too slow

2. Try not to feel the bite, wait til you see the line jump or move.

3. I think the best line is about a 6lb test mono or fluoro

4. Don't use a hook that is too big. It kill the action - I usually use a size 2 and a 1/16 oz head.

5. Elaztech baits are huge. They can last forever. Saves you money and time spent rigging if you are using regulat plastic baits. Also, I think they have better action than standard plastic.

That about covers it on my end. I'm sure others will chime in on wat they like/use

I have been using a small BPS head but looking for a better one.

Baits are zinker-z in various colors

Line is braid with a 6 foot flouro leader in 6lb test.

NED isn't my primary fish catcher so my standard are a bit different but i do use it occasionally. I guess my standards on it aren't as rigid so heck maybe i'm not even fishing the ned? I do use Dave's jig's because they're very well made and have plans to try them on some smaller tube baits. Here's what i may or may not have NED rigged depending on your definition lol

1. Set up is a St.Croix 6'9 ML XF

2. 8lb fluoro no leaders or braid just straight fluoro. I normally will use the 1/8oz head in greenpumpkin.

3. i've used BPS stick O's usually cut down to about 3', 3' centipede, 3.5' ribster worm by lunker city baits, all of these baits are fished in variations of green pumpkin, dark melon, any variations of dark browns and greens.

4. I usually drag mine pretty slowly with an occasional lift of the rod tip or hop.

5. I don't usually feel the bite instead ill feel "mush" like i'm dragging through leaves.

6. I don't use a hard hook set. Instead i put pressure on the fish and keep a good bend in the rod with a few pulls and that usually does it.

I'm not a wizard of the search function on this forum, but if you can make it work, there are hours worth of threads discussing the NED that are waiting for you to read. I'm not sure that everyone is going to re-hash what we've posted before.

You need light line

you need Loc tire gel glue.

you need to fish elaztech plastics

you need good jig heads

You need the right spinning rod

you need to get used to catching fish, a lot of fish

What this guy said. Not sure where he got all that learnin'...

Lighter and smaller are better. That means 6# FC will generally get more bites than 8#. Lighter heads are a real key. We sell lots of the 1/8 to Ozark folks, but the 1/16 is the heart of the system.

Don't force regular plastic baits at it.The elaztech baits are night and day different.

Slower is always better. The goal is to catch every fish possible, not eliminate water.

Am out and about. Will see about putting some links up, or PM me. There is a lot of info here, especially from 2014-15, and on YouTube at channels Winkiedoodles and 521VX05. I would caution that there is also some very sketchy info on YouTube and other forums. Lots of guys are doing it now, some are making changes that could dramatically impact its productivity.

I too am  using, and highly recommend, Dave's jig heads ( and BTW Dave I will be in touch to restock )  and pretty much everything else that has been said here.

I had been using 8 lb line for most stuff in streams and having some results.  6 worries me and I was pretty resistant to trying it.  When I finally did it was on a very clear, fairly shallow stream.  I fished it for an hour with normal lures, switched to the Ned on 8 and caught a few small bass, switched to 6 lb and the Ned and caught quite a few small to medium bass  several of them in water that hadnt produced an hour or two before.

Not exactly a large sample size and certainly not a scientific test, but it made me a believer.  1/16 works better for me than 1/8th except in  heavier current, and 6 generally gets me a lot more pickups than 8.   Ditto also on the "reel when it feels mushy and then do "kinda a sweep" set", the blue LocTite, and the Z baits.      Cut the Z's in half, do not bite them in half or you will be gnawing for some time and spitting for even longer than that afterwards.

If you want to bite through one let me know. I'll hold your hat and give you a five minute head start.
