Got started a little late this morning, waiting for the temps to get above freezing.  One of those days where it went from flat calm early to windier than heck in the afternoon.

Fishing was tough, caught 6 total, all on a shaky head.  Caught 3 Kentucks on 3 straight casts off one point, so basically I spent 6 hours catching the other 3 fish.  Had some issues missing fish also, I think I missed at least another 6 today that I had hooked up for a second or two, but then they got off - hate to lose them on a tough day like today.

I did catch a 3 lb. smallie today, he bit the shaky head and when I set the hook, I thought I had set on a stump or something, that fish was just rock solid and really pulled hard.  Thought I was on to a 6 or 7 lb. largemouth, wasn't expecting a smallie, I just haven't been catching any sizeable brown fish lately.

Water is still a stained green up the White, and temps were 47-50.

Man that is just a beautiful fish.  It went from flat and slick as a gut to howling.  Jeff how deep was that bottom bite?  I did start seeing some bottom fish in 20 to 25 but it was to windy to throw the little guy that deep.  Also my guys started to gag when I mentioned 5 pound test line  a 1/8th. oz bait and a spinning rod.  I think I would have had a boycott on my hands.  They pretty much had a dose of my fishing expertise as it was.

I can't say that I have ever been colder than I was this morning.  I just could not put on enough cloths.  My lower back chilled and I shook all morning.  I'm still cold and if the wind wasn't still puffing I'd get in the Hot Tub.

Pete fished Kimberling to point 5 area, and with you up the river and me somewhat mid-lake, it seemed to be tough all over this pond today.

However, I bet someone was on them.  Always are.

Great report

Well those 3 kentucks were in 20 FOW right on the inside of a point near marker 23.  That smallie was on a gravel bank that has a couple of boulders, i'd say it might have been 10 feet.  The other few bites I got were generally a bit shallow, 10 or so.

Nice catch and pretty fish.       Fished up around point 23 last year and it was productive back in an area that had a lot of tree stumps in it.

I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything!

quill, did you happen to throw a jerk bait or crank bait at all??  one of my retired buddies that lives in emerald beach went out this afternoon, and did quite well, but caught everything in about a one hour stretch.  he did comment that he fished an area that the wind was flat busting.

Champ thanks. I guess it helps if I can read. I completely missed it the first time. WT is slooooowly rising. The next week should see it come up a couple of more if the forecast is correct.

Bo, I did throw a crank for a bit back in a cove that I had caught several in on Monday and did not get a bite on it.  Threw a jerker for just a few casts and nothing on it either.

i am fairly certain he caught them on main lake points and just inside the mouth of the cove.  i would imagine that timing had a big part in the success.  he happened to be there at the right time while some bass were up.
