Smalliebigs Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Hog Wally said be at his shop for a quick run and I just had to do it. The water temps were 55 to 57 by 3:00pm at the surface. The water clarity was fairly clear. The fish have vacated their Winter haunts and are on the move. When they do this every year it is perplexing for me because they are on the move and are not intheir Winter spots nor are they in their Summer homes yet. We saw schools of fish moving up stream...very cool to see. My brother from another mother Hog Wally found them in areas that most would never think to look for them in a million years this time of year. If you could get the bait there when the fish were there they would eat ferociously and every fish had multiple Lampreys on them.....Wally's boat was full of dead Lamprey. This dude has caught soo many fish from 15 to 17 inches in the last two weeks it's kinda stupid. I will say this when they are in this traveling thing I suck at catching them....oh well tons of water coming so time to make some jigheads. and for a section of the report I call a Minute in the day of Hog Wally....this is going from just below the Jungle run to just past shady Beach in a little over a minute....my phone gps said 52mph and we covered well over a mile in 1:17 in comfort .....CLICK ON THE YOUTUBE LINK BELOW Daryk Campbell Sr, Smallieguy87, jfrith and 6 others 9

I could send gps coordinates to all my spots right now and it wouldn't matter. These fish are running like salmon up the river. In schools no less. I'm used to seeing white bass do this but not smallies and largemouth. One good clue- deep and very fast water. This is a short bite But violent. I had a lot of fun yesterday Scott Could the meramec be as good as I've seen it in years? Yes. Without a doubt. Some would say the lack of gigging this year is the reason ??? You and Mitch have always told me of this phenomenon and I laughed.....but, now that I am seeing the irony for my own very eyes, well it's just kinda blowing me away to be honest with you.
