Headed out Friday morning and looking to book 2 rooms somewhere. Any clean places that you would recommend?  Thanks.  The Grove area would be great, but will stay wherever.

Staying at Longs Resort just outside of Grove.  FLW event going on, but they narrowed the field yesterday so shouldnt be to bad out. Got here yesterday to watch a guy pull over 50 crappie off the dock. Some of those were 16" or better. All went back in the water. Going to give that some effort today and tomorrow between bass fishing.

Talked with a guy I know who fished the Spring River arm and did very well with the crappie.  If that doesn't pan out for you, you can always fish for the whites up there as well.

There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!

Had a great getaway. The crappie we're as plentiful as a person wanted. Between 7 of us Friday evening from 7:30pm til 9, we caught over 130 and kept 30 of the biggest.  Went out at 6am this morning alone and caught over 20 in 15 minutes. I Bass fished and my better half and buddies wife stayed behind and caught several more.  Good to have fish in the freezer again.

As far as the bass go, had a pretty decent trip. For not ever fishing Grand, we found some decent fish. Friday morning was pretty slow with a decent wind most of the day.  Around 1pm pulled up on a wind blown bank with 6 or 8 docks in a row, about 20 yards apart.  Started throwing a crank that I can catch fish on about any time. That first gap between the dock and shore in 5 FOW produced a 21 1/4" fish.  Took a few pictures and put back in the water.  A few short casts later on the next dock produced a 20 1/2" fish.  The 3rd dock I caught 3 short fish in consecutive casts.  The belly was calling for something to eat by this time, so back to the resort we went.

Got out this morning just at first light with a lite breeze. Started with the crank that produced 1 short fish in 30 minutes.  Switched over to the Ned and caught 7 more in about an hour fishing between docks on gravel in the cove we were staying in.  After lunch went back to where I caught those nicer fish.  Put the trolling motor down and no go.  I noticed my on-board charger was not charging right on Friday when I plugged it in. One battery showed charged as soon as I plugged it in, so I knew something was up. Fired up and back to the resort. After catching about a dozen more crappie from the dock, it was time to load up and head home.

Love what I seen of Grand. We bought our yearly license so plan on going back off and on.  Overall great trip.

Is the old Red Eleven Resort still around?  I looked at that place in 1981 to buy.  It had been flooded so many times the mold was overwhelming.  But it was the place to go back in the day...  hosted most of the big bass tournaments.

Phil,

While searching the web for a resort to stay I came across a Red 11 Port just outside of Grove. Didn't look like what we wanted so I assume if it's the same place then it's still around.  They said the lake came above the dam twice this year, so flooding, and mold are still issues there. But you have seen some of that at your location recently.  The place we stayed was on a point up high. Beautiful views from that area.
