Flysmallie Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 I have seen none in west Springburg. Hoping to get some decent pictures of some this year.
tho1mas Posted April 20, 2016 Author Posted April 20, 2016 This no show makes me wonder if there has been die off over the winter. Have only seen two this year. One Sun. & one Wed. morning.
Flysmallie Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Saw the first one this morning having some breakfast at the feeder. Wasn't long before another one came and chased it away. BilletHead 1
Johnsfolly Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Just had our first male visiting our feeder this evening. BilletHead and Flysmallie 2
Johnsfolly Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 The male was back right at dusk sitting in a dead branch just above the feeder as if he owned the place. He's pretty plump. I'm surprised because usually they are real thin after their migration.
tho1mas Posted April 22, 2016 Author Posted April 22, 2016 I think I only have one bird using my feeders - it is small & skinny. BilletHead 1
Flysmallie Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 Had a fat little basturd at the feeder while I was mowing. Was able to get within a few feet of him. Of course when I pulled out the phone to get a pic he blasted off. I'll setup the Nikon tomorrow. tho1mas, BilletHead and Johnsfolly 3
Johnsfolly Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Saw the plump male a couple more times, but not in the last two days. As plump as he was he might not have gone much further south than Shreveport LA this winter.
tho1mas Posted April 26, 2016 Author Posted April 26, 2016 I still only have one bird & I don't see it every day. Both feeders are still full - anyone know how long the mix lasts?
