Members bagofdonuts Posted April 12, 2016 Members Posted April 12, 2016 Got a new lews american hero reel for $31 and love it. Haven't had it long enough to tell if it'll last.
Members Wes Smith Posted April 12, 2016 Author Members Posted April 12, 2016 Would that reel be big enough for the heavier line?
hoglaw Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 I am a HUGE fan of the revo S thanks to trophy fishr. It would definitely accommodate your line choice. Great reel in the barely sub 100 price point.
Members Wes Smith Posted April 13, 2016 Author Members Posted April 13, 2016 Ok thanks I will check them out
Quillback Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 I would check out the Pflueger President and the President Anniversary reels, and I'd look at the 30 and 35 sizes if I was thinking of spooling it with mono in the range you are talking. Pflueger XT reels are sweet also if they are in your price range. There is a $20 manufacturer rebate deal on Pfluegers priced over $99. Haven't fished the Revo myself, but I have heard they are also sweet reels. ramman123 1

I bought one last year on a whim just to see if it would last. Drug it around in the gravel, soaked it in the water, kicked it around in the bottom of my canoe. So far so good. I'm sure it's not expensive enough for most though. ness, dan hufferd and Seth 3
MOPanfisher Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 I like to have a cheaper/less expensive reel on a creek wading or floating trip. Somehow if I take a nicer reel it shoots craps. (but that was back when I had shimanos)
Riverwhy Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 I personally love the upper end Shimano reels. Pricey and worth every penny.

Lots of people have great luck with them and love them. And I did at one time. They just don't hold up in my environment. Pretty sad that a $30 reel will outlast them. Still a good product though or they wouldn't be in business.
