dtrs5kprs Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 Eventually I was bound to get the swimbait bite dialed in. Hot wind, shad, and flat gravel points. It was game on baby! Have to give the little guy points for trying. That was a 4" caffeine shad on a 3/8oz head with a 3/0 hook. akaslyguy, dan hufferd, abkeenan and 5 others 8
Nitro 750 Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Which one is the swimbait? Bassmod, Moswimb8slinger and Muddy Water 3
dtrs5kprs Posted April 25, 2016 Author Posted April 25, 2016 Exactly. It wasn't outside his head. He had it tail on. The one in the pic. Bassmod and Muddy Water 2
Nitro 750 Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 I think his eyes was bigger than his stomach!!!!
dtrs5kprs Posted April 25, 2016 Author Posted April 25, 2016 It should have been sticking out of his tail.
Longball22 Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Dave, how do you like that Prodigy rod? I have the 7' Med Light, and think it's a sweet little rod for the $$$. Great for throwing the 1/16oz Ned IMO.
Members carpelpummel Posted April 25, 2016 Members Posted April 25, 2016 Got on the swim bait bite too, had a ball, Baxter area mainly, little smaller bait though was throwing a 3inch bass pro speed shad on 1/8 head. 7 keepers on Saturday, 3 of them just shy of 3lbs, one 3.5 biggest just over 4 and countless short fish....even snuck in a walter, white and a few crappie. Caught the better fish suspended in a creek channel. Get on that shallow gravel anywhere and those little smallmouth will just wear you out!!!
Quillback Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Well today over at Beaver I caught one of those green meanies on a crank bait. It was a tussle I tell you, son of a gun made a drag pulling run at a pile of cedars, had to clamp my thumb on the spool and pull on that rod as hard as I could to turn him (thank goodness for 15 lb. line). Gave me a few anxious moments at the boat as he kept diving under the boat and making runs at the trolling motor. he went airborne a couple times also, probably cleared water by a good 4 feet - what a fight! Here's a pic I took, didn't weigh him, wanted to get him back in the water quickly. Flysmallie, Champ188, mixermarkb and 1 other 4
m&m Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 that fish had to be hungry and really mad at that crankbait. Mike
Nitro 750 Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Quill sounds like you had all you could handle with that HAWG, I would guess it at 9lbs to 9.5lbs. Quillback 1
