Members akdoc Posted April 25, 2016 Members Posted April 25, 2016 Man it was tough for us last weekend. The big bass tourney had boats all over the lake. We fished from 38MM to 50MM. We didn't have any luck in the back of coves, pockets about half way back in coves we found some fish but mostly small males making beds. We found the largest concentration of active fish in the cuts behind main lake points that had pea gravel at the back. We didn't catch anything with size, biggest was about 2.5. I heard of a lot of bass being caught on carolina rigs closer to the darn. I would fish mostly spawn patterns and post spawn with rigs and soft plastics.
bluebasser86 Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Fished the BBB with a buddy and we found the same, cuts with gravel in the back. We caught a bunch of keepers on a C rig lizard in 1-10 feet of water, just never got the big bite. My buddy had a spot that went 3.01 off a bed and missed the $500 check by .01 pounds
Members Bigin64083 Posted April 26, 2016 Members Posted April 26, 2016 Caught several nice size keepers late in the evening on buzz baits right next to bank in between docks.
fishinwrench Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 I went out for a post-Bash evaluation Monday and took a serious beating. 6 short fish and quite a few half-hearted bites that I couldn't connect on was the best I could do. I flipped shallow flats, worked over some good steeper rocky areas, and C-rigged several points, banks, and gravel pockets. The bite was dead as a hammer. Saw alot of bass beds, but no fish even close to them.

I had plenty of bites that I swung on and came up empty so I let the bait sit when I felt a bite and kept tension on line and when it swam off set the hook but a lot of times a couple of more pecks and then nothing. These were not bedding fish.
Old plug Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 I wish iI could get out there. Lokks like it is not about to happen anytime soon. I bet topwaters and wacky worms are about to come in. Stuff like square bills and wake baits as well.
m&m Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 Plug, from your voice to the bass' ear!! I'll be down on May 11, 12 & 13 hoping that the TW and wacky worm bite is in full swing. Mike Hammer time 1
