They had the Air Stream rods in stock so I picked up a couple today.  Now that I think about it though, they may have been 6'6" rods, not 7's.  I'll have to check tomorrow.  I did get a couple of the Trions to try as well.

I look forward to seeing how the other length Air Streams compare to the 7 footers. I think they'll be just fine, but I can only recommend what I have actually have used.

If nothing else I can't imagine that the 7's wouldn't cast a light jig better.  If I get a chance to get back up to BassPro before the end of June I may swap out one or both.  Picked up some Nanofil.  They didn't carry the CX in 6 lb so I got the P Line floro coated coplymer, not the 100% floro.  Should be fine.  If not I'm out $8.

On another note, they don't carry any of the ZMan Ned plastics or jig heads locally.  Going to have to order.

Wife and I went out last night to see if the crappie would cooperate and just to get the boat wet.  I kept thinking that these rods and reels would make good crappie setups.  Just didn't have enough time to rig them up.  Wife called when I was on the way home saying she wanted to go fish and I still had to pull the boat out, put in all new batteries, replace jack and in general fire it up for the first run of the season.

I wonder what that would be like.

It's generally good and it's sometimes "less good".  She has no problem with gear purchases, I get to buy "two of everything", it's easy to get away to fish.  Heck, if it wasn't for her liking to fish I don't think I would have a second home in AR right now as she wouldn't have seen the value in it.

The only real "less good" thing is that it's tougher to get away with "just the guys" because she often wants to go.  She has gone on two of our Canada trips; her, me and six other guys.  that said she doesn't do those anymore.  Something about "a week is too long to spend with your friends".  That's understandable.  They have known her for 20 years and they don't change the way they behave at fish camp whether a female is there or not and I don't blame them.  For several of them the one Canada trip a year is their only real fishing outing and they can get a bit rough around the edges.

OMG STEIN, that would be enough to get you banished from the fishing buddies. I know if I was the only one to bring my wife on a week long trip....I failed the boys

Yeah, I would call party foul on that one.

The first time it was truly a last minute deal.  Guy that was going with me bailed one week before the trip.  She was able to get off on short notice so I still got to go.  She's pretty hard core and has the respect of the guys.  The next year it was by choice.  Last time was about 12 years ago.  Gotta give it to a girl that can handle their own without gloves and wear gill raker rash as a badge of honor, never complained about fishing in rain or wind the last week of September in Canada.  But yes, I do get the party foul.

Very Nice! My wife will fish with me occasionally and is really pretty good at it, but a few times a year is all she wants to fish and she'll catch a few and then she's good.
