Bill, bo champ all u guys have connected so many dots for my brain.  Before I found this sight I figured the other only way to learn table rock is to just fish and accept the many days of "zeros"  which I have been extremely familiar with fishing year round by point 16  over the last decade. (There really are fish all over and not just on the bank)

Goodness. There are fish all over within 2 miles either way of 16. That's the area where the cove gut/mouth deal really shines. It shocked me when I first learned about it.

I look forward to camping and fishing the big M area on memorial day weekend. My family and I have reserved a campsite at Viney, it is open on the 13th I believe they said. 

Quick question, how does the water look over there? Is it stained right now or is it cleared up like Kimberling area? ( I know my daughter will want to swim lol) do you think it will be clear by the end of month?

Good looking fish and hope to get on the top water bite!

Slippery, it is stained green in that area around Viney.  I'm going to estimate about 2-3 feet of visibility.

Quill and Bill, thanks for the information. Well done. Whether the fish are staging to spawn or returning from the spawn they stop and eat at the same area. Keeping it simple is a good bit of knowledge to remember.

John, very kind of you to say. We've all benefitted greatly from this site and not just in terms of fishing info. I've made some great friends here and learned a lot from them. Keep hanging around and let us know how your efforts go on the water. Even bad or so-so trips can be learning experiences.

Treble hooks....I just can't see how a fish can spit them out the way they do. When these hooks are out of the water they will snag anything within 2 feet of them and wont let go.  I have numerous puncture wounds in my fingers and hands from them. On one occasion I had to pull one out of my foot with pliers (long painful story).  They will hang up on anything in your boat and not let go, so how in the world does a fish manage to sling them out so easy?

How does a deer completely duck an arrow flying over 300 fps? How do you miss shooting at a flock of ducks so thick you can't see the sky? Why is it impossible to keep eye contact with a fine looking young lady with cleavage bursting out of her see through blouse?

Some things in this world are not meant to be understood but marveled.

I am curious about the pocket deal you guys are describing.  What are you looking for in a "pocket"?  After reading this I am not sure I would know one if I saw it!
