skeeter Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 Best slow down when you reach the South end of the Bridge. The Contractor poured a new slab of concrete on 13 Highway where it joins the Bridge deck. That slab is about 5 inches or so higher than the surface of Hwy. 13 and they have a temporary (hopefully) asphalt ramp taking you down from the elevated slab to the existing Highway surface. You hit that sucker at speed and you're going to get a little bit of a surprise ! The wakeboarders call it " getting air " ;-) ! dtrs5kprs 1

Supposed to open sometime tomorrow Thursday 5-26. Until they do something more gradual and permanent I'd suggest a little caution at the South end approaching and departing from those new slabs they poured just beyond the ends of the bridge on Hwy 13. skeeter Posted May 28, 2016 Posted May 28, 2016 The South end is sm-o-o-o-o-thed out now and no worries. Bridge opened Thurs. afternoon and seems a little wider than before. Can't tell yet if they removed the "No Wake" buoys ( that many of the play-boats ignored ) under the Bridge. dtrs5kprs and vernon 2

Most of the folks I saw seemed to think they were "go fast" buoys. Watched the water patrol sit there for over an hour a couple of weeks ago "monitoring" the situation. Must have been texting or reading a policy manual as numerous boats flew through on plane and he didn't react to a single one. Maybe just gathering statistics on the (non) effectiveness of them! I seldom fish bridge pilings but wouldn't mind seeing all of them (bridges) designated no wake. Drives me nuts to see some old couple sitting there in a small aluminum boat bobber fishing and battleships and destroyers running past them at full throttle (or worse, half throttle). Sorry for the thread jack - one of those senior moments I guess. Glad the bridge project is finally completed. OldMillRoad 1 "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." Just kills me how they'll show up at 5 a.m. to ticket tournament boats whose bow/stern lights may be flickering but let seemingly bigger, moving violations speed on by. dtrs5kprs and OldMillRoad 2

In fact, when we are at Table Rock, I feel like we're breaking the law running under bridges. Of course, Champ188 always slows down anyway or picks a different spot to pass under the bridge if there is anyone fishing.
